Thanks to HotelWhisky7 and others who have helped me to grope towards a completion. I have a mate called Bishop who lives in Blackburne. Although he often plays the fool, he's also a scholar, so I thought he might help in some way, but he's on a work trip to Dubai at the moment, so I can't get hold of him.

P.S.

Norah, are you the Jackie Weaver of the Listener Crossword help forum world?

Ploughty, get over yourself. The "accessibility issue" that prevents you from typing out the clues does not seem to have affected your ability to post all the other stuff you've put on here recently.

Thanks, usuk. My friend, Ivor, is an alumnus. Good chess player to boot. I am QBGS (Quarry Bank Grammar School) - ten years after John Lennon.

Hi SS @ 38,

I'm far from clear about the final step(s) myself, but am somewhat confused by your interpretation. I may be wrong but I think the TTC is 'elegant' and has to be considered in conjunction with a further TTC (above and below it) in order to 'complete the picture' (deliberately trying to be vague here). ETL is most definitely plural (the T confirms that), and leads straight into PATM, not DATM which, to me, suggests that we have different TTCs to start with.

I may be wrong and/or have misunderstood your post. Cheers, Simon

I have been an occasional visitor to this thread (at least in its previous form) and found it helpful and friendly. I’m sorry to see how it is being used now and I don’t think I shall be returning. No doubt we all have personal issues to manage (cancer in my case) but none provide an excuse - still less a reason - for boorish and abusive behaviour.

Simon. You are absolutely correct. Our TTC were not
In a perfect B, hence we used the singular for T rather than the plural. That extended to our using a D in stead of the P.
Apologies. A much more elegant solution and a clearer solution to show the sequence. 😰

Ha! certainly no apologies required. The endgame has been far from clear to me. I think I've stumbled there eventually - I've gone with the possessive in the barred off cell but I may be wrong. Still don't understand the Title despite a couple of earlier hints.
