Krauton and Ploughty, please read Malone’s post and the preamble to this thread about giving the clue etc.

Hi Norah. I thought it was another case of users trying to make the rules, so I ignored them. For me typing is difficult so it's much easier to say please give answer to 9 rather than type out the clue. I hope your forum help simplify things for me.

Fair enough Ploughty, I appreciate your difficulties.

It was felt that you would more readily get the answer to a clue if the clue itself was given. If a User has to go to the crossword to find the clue, they might not bother to do that. Also, non-Listener followers might have answers to clues.

Ploughty, I am a little bemused - and it's nothing to do with a tricky Listener. The wording I used - asking for information on clues to be included - was taken from Norah's post the previous week. I expect you saw that then, I think you asked for help.

I also have no idea where your 'another case of users trying to make the rules' comes from - I've not seen any of that myself. I, like most people on the Forum, have no interest in making rules. I am quite happy to leave that in Norah's capable hands. It's an added bonus , of course, when people read and follow them!

Thanks Norah.
Malone, Norah says she has lots of problems with users who think they make the rules. Afraid I don't read all those should do this posts by users

Thanks, Ploughty. I remember Norah being given lots of 'advice' when the Forum had some discussions recently on how best to help Listener solvers.

You don't need to read the 'do this...' posts by users - Norah's words would surely suffice? And it's obviously the norm to give the details of clue when asking for help with it, it's not an outlandish, unreasonable request! Yes, your medical issues may make that tricky - but no-one here is psychic, we just see rather barked-out 'requests' for help, answers, the theme...

Malone, it's not easy to know who is authorised spokesman and who isn't. You don't need to be sidekick. I've mentioned my accessibility issues both to Norah and on forum previously. Thanks

Ploughty, I don't have an identity crisis - I am not an authorised spokesman, nor am I a sidekick.

I start the Listener threads as Norah is far keener on being an administrator than having anything to do with the puzzles themselves. Her involvement with Listener is solely because of all the ups and downs the Forum has had when it comes to the giving and getting of help. I'm sure Norah would have been perfectly happy if the Listener threads ran as smoothly (and as amicably) as all the others!

Malone, it was a joke. Sidekick is homophone of psychic
