You’re correct on clue type. Letters to be removed span two words, leaving a different ‘at last’ letter, and the last two letters plaintext.

specsaver - after the removal, take the last letter of the first remnant + all of the second remnant and insert the single letter abbrev of the first word - def is the last 4 words (rooms in a harem).

Sorry BuzzB and all other purists. No, I was trying to be obscure enough so that only those who had completed could interpret what I was asking. The word I used was "ARENA". Thought I was only giving stuff away if I was right about what is going on, and I'm certainly not completely sure if I was, hence the question(s). Sounds like I must have been on the right lines though. Length of answer probably could be worked out from the preamble? Once again, please accept my humble apologies.

I fully support the comments by usuk (#44), kenhiggs (#48) and jack aubrey (#57). The accusation of "bullying" against malone, from someone who has done little else but bully to get answers that he thinks are his God-given right, beggars belief.

A previous disputatious, narcissistic person drove a number of helpful contributors from this forum. When he left, a period of peace was restored. Ploughty's recent arrival has stirred things up again, to no purpose. Being the Trump-like, narcissitic personality he has projected here, he seeks to blame others for his own failings, and attribute to others the faults that he himself displays.

To all the loyal regulars of the Listener threads.

I knew there was ill feeling against Ploughty but I didn’t realise how strong it was, in view of these concerns I have taken the decision to ban him. I am not prepared to allow the loyal Forum Users to be constantly upset by another User.

I have done my best to appease him due to his health conditions but there is a limit to my patience, the last few weekends have been one trauma after another with his shenanigans.

I have emailed Jack to ask him to reconsider his decision to take no further part in the thread.

PS Can we please get back to normal with nice good natured posts between friends, thank you.
