British radio comedy from the fifties. The first two words are the first names of a couple of the group.

No problem.

13 - Spike, Harry et al are the (first) names of a group of famous British comedians who had a ground breaking sketch show in the 1950's and perhaps later - the answer is their collective name and is derived from "conduct themselves 2, 2 + single letter for "solemnly at first".

Oh. Spike Milligan of course. I’ve certainly heard of him and even seen some sketches of his. Thanks again, Brendan, and you as well, HW7.

Bananabean (post 36), they don't make a synonym for OLD (that I can think of). Try something you keep a parrot in (Norwegian Blue or otherwise).

Ignore my previous post, it's rubbish. You can't make a real word out of the four letters. You can make a 3-letter synonym for TAXI + G. Apologies, shouldn't post with hangover.

You can if you add ‘one hint is an abbreviation in Chambers.’

Well, that was a non- trivial solve. As noted previously, random discards plus random radial order entry meant two thirds plus of the radials were solved with only 12 and 13 entered, as they had repeated letters, N and NW very troublesome until a Shakespearean aha.

Coincidentally, and as noted on this forum a year or so ago, a previous Listener generated a number of letters in the ‘notes’ range. Turned out to be a blind alley then, but I remember wondering at the time if anyone would convert the device into a future puzzle, as done so elegantly here.

Lastly, working out the theme from 12 and 13 was a definitive PDM for self. Many thanks indeed tnap.

Good morning. I’m in need of tips for radials 24, 34 and 35.
35 ends ING I think but just not seeing it despite knowing letter options from the radials.

Nancy doing the job that Nice often does (ie the following is from France).

Game is well known five letter sport; one substitution.

35 is the present participle of a ludicrously obscure two letter verb.

Thanks that has certainly given me 34 ( I was obsessed with BINGO), and may get me the other two in time....are definitions irritation and forgotten poems?
I was after a steer on 24 ring clue really. Called it radial in error, can you give a pointer for that too?

Lumen, answer to 24 is a wind (also a former model of VW car). If you get that, the parsing should fall into place.
