And I agree with Brendan’s revised analysis of 5.

Thank you mathprofrockstar and brendan. I was looking at the wrong end of 'toe' for 11, and 12 was one of those dastardly hyphened words that aren't indicated. I'm still struggling with the tramp, so to speak, though I'm sure I'll get there eventually. And I realised what sort of diet I was looking for but still can't see it. I'm not sure which actual diet you refer to brendan. Loge, I thought perhaps that was the way to do it. I'll have a go - thank you

And I still can't see 5, though again I guessed the structure of the clue early on. I'm perhaps being a bit dense this week

In 5 the word you remove C from is also German for “person”

Loge at #81, I'm still not seeing 35 and it's irritating, gnawing, eating, dogging, and nagging me! At 8.30 this morning HW7 said it was based on two letter verb, you say a three letter verb, minus first letter....we need a six letter solution, including ING. Baffled.

Hi Lumen,

35 - Your looking for a 7 letter word meaning "irritation" or 'irritating' ( as in he really "irritates" me or he really ...... me (but the present continuous of the word as was said earlier, so ending 'ing' minus its first letter/"initially suppressed" - this gives a dialect word meaning "loathing" - it's not a word I'd ever heard of but that's nothing new!

Thanks brendan as usual, and mprs too, ha-ha!
Right the weekend is nearly over and I'm not getting this despite what looks like an almost full grid, so desperately need gentle tips for my remaining Ring clues 33 and 37; and Radials 2, 10, 17 and 24.
Or some of those! Enough to reveal the inner circle. Someone said they got the theme from 12 and 13???
I am on night shift, so need to crack this. I see you are a night person Brendan - last night at least!
