Yes, very tricky I thought. I can’t add to what’s already been said regarding 2d and 22d, but will think on.

The ellipses in 15/17 have no meaning as far as I can see, and don’t had much to the surface either.

Umm - so far I only have 2 solutions - FOI 9a, then 2d, which I don't have a problem with!

Hi again, Brendan.
I too wondered whether 2d simply involved setter error (‘is it’ might suggest a different two letter abbreviation, reversed?).
I also spent a while thinking that ‘break’ might be doing double duty, which I think would also form part of your parsing according to your second theory. Ingenious as it is, I’m not sure that it quite explains the clue, and it would be obscure even for Enigmatist!
And now I see that chrise doesn’t have a problem with 2d. Come on, Chris, please put us all out of our misery!

Ignore my second theory @17

3 goes around 2 - it's like Galileo and the Spanish inquisition all over again!

Regarding last week’s prize, Pasquale has accepted that AWAKE was an alternative to his intended solution of AWARE and that he should have spotted it.

He also confirmed that it was his 400th puzzle, hence the FOUR HUNDRED reference.

I think, at a slight stretch, "is it" indicates the inserted letters.

Typical Enigmatist fare, I thought. I didn’t have a problem with 22d, assuming that wrapped is being used to mean cycled. And I agree with chrise’s parsing of 2d. That was how I read it
