barny - 8a is included in the clue; 9a is a Hungarian name beginning with L with its middle 2 letters removed to give a French 19c composer (only 2 letters of which are inserted); your 7d is 2-letter abbreviation of first 2 words + a measure of land to give a small horse-drawn cab

8d Fate: a Nordic (or Ring cycle) reference with standard crossword trick. *OR*, where the 2 *s denote the same letter.

Many thanks everyone.
Just 10d (i) left. Can’t find any species of acacia that fit, but maybe that’s not the definition…

I am also struggling with acacias, although have all the consonants. Also, in 7.2d, I have a french city that matches the 4 consonants, but can't parse it.

The acacia species is a homophone of a term meaning to sway or rock in a nautical sense (i.e. of a ship). Both are in Chambers.

Prospero, not sure you have the correct word for the NY gifts in @67, unless I have it wrong?

Prospero, I think that in 7a (1) it is German one (ein) that is "regularly dismissed" to give "en" for the French composer, first name Olivier.
