Looks interesting. Here's a grid should it be helpful ...

Thanks very much jono.
The overt theme appeals to me, but at first blush I find the instructions and the grid obscure even for Maskarade. So I think I’ll leave it for tonight, buy the print edition tomorrow, and attempt to chew away at it when I have the time during a busy weekend. At present I think it unlikely that I’ll have anything meaningful to say before Boxing Day, which may come as a relief to many.
On that assumption, compliments of the season to all!

Passing on this one, though it looks ingenious [and challenging].
I just blew a lot of time on the (admittedly easier) Private Eye holiday puzzle, and am now full up on jumbos.
Thanks anyway to jono for the effort.

I have a festive hangover, and can't even understand the instructions. Pass.

Unlike many here, I really relish Maskarade's specials. Bit of a slog, and some unfamiliar theme names, but all fell apart in the end.

Hmm, leaning towards giving up after getting a few of the downs because I don't know many composers and it feels like I'm just going to be using the internet to find plausible names. Has anyone finished it who doesn't know their composers?

Did not know all of them, but the word plays, Google and the crossers provided enough for the more obscure examples.

I just had a quick look, and think the composers might be the easy bit. I got all of the 1s, but have no idea what to do with them!
