Bought the paper edition at last, and made a start on the bus into town. I’m enjoying the novel challenge, and will perhaps set myself the task of listening to something by each of the composers over the coming days. (Especially since BBC Radio seems to be especially annoying this Christmas)

Thank you Buddy, I guess I'm just confused as to how to place the 1down clue. I was thinking it was all to fit in column 1.

Mackania, 1d should fit perfectly, make sure you are removing all the vowels, including the Y.

Thought this was going well but I've got a conflict I can't solve. The second letter I have for entry in the first row is an N but the first letter I have in the second column is an H. Both of my solutions fit the definition, can't see what's wrong

Nevermind, seen another composer that fits. I was in the wrong country

Hi Slanty
It is the H that is correct. Check the spelling of the first composer in 1A - there is a silent letter there. Heavy hint - the "note" referred to in 1A has 3 letters.

Thanks buzzy, saw it just after I'd posted. Got stuck on an Italian composer that fit the definition

Hi Judy, usually barred grids have rotational symmetry. This doesn’t apply here, so bars can be entered anywhere in the grid to separate entries.
