If you have the hint in the initial row 3 you should be able to form a new hint by looking at what the first hint says and taking one letter each from the places described.

Brilliant puzzle. Can't figure out the word play on 13 and 15, hints appreciated.

I have a full grid with the exception of 7d. There's an obvious candidate for the 3rd letter but I've toiled away at the clue for some time so help appreciated.
Thanks.

A word for “Ran” ringing both a “round” and the final piece of cops.

Def is outwitted.

Thanks Candledave. That was one of my candidate words but I failed to parse it. I had several possible words for 'ran' as the answer using the end of 'outwitted'.
Hmmm. Now the end game..

Odd usually means use the letters in the odd positions of a word.

Def is the clue's last word. The parsing is a 4 letter Scottish noun for odd followed by a 4 letter archaic verb to couple.
