I’ll be attempting the Listener for the first time. Expect questions...

Good luck, Jono. I just started them in the summer. The first few were an ordeal, but I am just now starting to get the hang of it.

All done and thoroughly enjoyable too, but for completeness would appreciate if someone could nudge me in the right direction on the parsing of the wordplay on 30, 37 and 39.

30 double definition, check Chambers ² & ¹.
37 excluding (Sabbath and holy)
39 Two = 1st 4 letters of answer (again Chambers), next 5 words of the clue define the next 3 with the usual abbreviation providing the last.

Still can’t quite see why the middle letters on 39 are what they are but I can live without it!

The middle letters = the plural of a two letter measure, giving the distance specified in the clue.
