Hi, Rusty!
I am wondering if it is the Royal Veterinary College to which my daughter will be going?
There is the Queen Mother Hospital, a part of the RVC, in Hatfield.
She didn't tell me the name - and I didn't think of the RVC until later.
I shall be speaking to her shortly so will check this out.
It could well be an hour and a half drive from where she lives.
I have just re- met Canby.....only to find he dies such a horrific death in the fire that happens shortly afterwards.
That was a shock!
(You didn't prepare me for that!)
We have had a bright sunny day too - this morning's drizzle faded away and we have had a lovely afternoon.
Is your son coming to visit this evening?

Hi elle Not such a good Eggheads, though the new ones are doing well. I knew the ethmoid bone question, having broken mine!

Little Ellie had a great time in the fallen leaves piled in my drive

Good evening, Elle.
Hatfield sounds promising?
Yes, poor Canby.
I could not very well let you know of his impending death.
That would spoil the tale!
Wind has died away here.
My son has been and gone!
We watched the golf for a while when he was here.

Hi, Rusty!
I was totally wrong about the RVC!
Pup is to go to Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hitchin.
I had never heard of it, but have duly looked it up on Google and it is a massive concern.
35 specialist clinicians, 60 nurses, and 30 administrators.
Wow!
Hopefully, there will be enough experts and appropriate facilities to solve puppy's illness.
I am thinking what a good job it is that daughter has pet insurance! This will not be cheap........although I am sure that money is her least concern.......she will just be wanting what is best for her dog.
I do hope he will be all right.
I am glad that you and your son had a good evening and enjoyed the golf!
I have just met Sheriff Dumire!

Hello, Ros!
The new Eggheads seem to be settling in well.
The Challengers have an easier time of it, though , on Kevin's "nights off"!
I am glad that you and your granddaughter had a good day!

Hello, Elle!
That seems like a very large practice at Hitchin.
Sounds the very place for pup!
I think I have been to Hitchin, or maybe it was Watford?
I had a nice time with my son, thank you.

Erm, don't get too fond of Sheriff Dumire.

Hi, Rusty!
Didn't you once tell me that, as a young man, you lived for a while in Luton.....or was it Dunstable.......somewhere like that?
Both Luton and Dunstable are not very far from either Hitchin or Watford!
So it is highly likely you have been to one or both of these places at some time!
It is a good job you warned me not to become too fond of Sheriff Axel Dumire!
What a grisly chapter! The demise of two good characters!
I liked Sheriff Dumire!
But how strange that apparent good should come out of evil......the Wendells eventually made good lives for themselves after their "crime" remained undetected.
There was a reference to Levi's having died?
I don't remember that happening?
I am now about to begin chapter 12 ..."Central Beet".

Hello, Elle,
I do not know how Levi died, either.
I liked the sheriff, too.
I think I was at Letchworth, too, and Tring.
Central Beets?
This may be where the mistake was made in changing Tranquilino into Triunfador and nobody noticed.
I do remember Brumbaugh employing Mexicans to tend the beets, so keep an eye out for it, unless of course, it was corrected in later editions?
Just like Chambers Dictionary!

Good morning, Rusty!
We have a glorious day....blue skies, sunshine, and a lovely fresh breeze.
Very invigorating!
Dog in fine feather, racing hither and thither as usual! She must cover a lot of miles!
What is your weather like? Have you been out for your paper via the scenic route?
Letchworth? I think that was the very first "Garden City"?
I have also heard of Tring, because I had a work colleague who lived there. He used to commute each day from Tring to Central London.
What were you doing in both those places? Did you live/ work there?
Tranquilino's name was changed to "Triunfador"? I am looking out for that ...but it hasn't happened so far.
(A bad error on the part of the writer and the proof reader!)
What are you up to today?

Hi, everyone!
Norah has said that she will try to post the 10,000 post, if she can fit in with the timing!
That will be good!
One of us could perhaps remind her, nearer the time?
We could watch out and hold fire on communicating on this thread till she has posted the 10,000th message.....
(If need be , we can always open a temporary thread to continue "talking", till Norah has posted!)

Hi Elle,

Perhaps one of us could report one of our own posts to draw Norah's attention when very close to post 10 000 ?

Good morning, Elle!
It is a great day here, too.
I have been out for the day, and home now and shall watch the golf later.
I was just getting acquainted with the neighbourhood when in Tring and surrounding area.
I do remember, I think I was in Watford, there was a huge police manhunt going on, one day.
They were searching for Harry Roberts, who had killed policemen.
I mentioned in the past, that the "name change" had survived 9 edits by Random House.
I am not sure which book it was though.
Either Centennial or Texas.
Michener told about it in his biography.
Any news on the pup?
