Or rather 'problem-free' I think is the correct expression?

I was especially worried elle becaue it completely stopped for most of that time. It didn't restart, it didn't do anything after I'd tried to swipe the screen. At least I now know it wasn't a virus, which is what I'd feared.
If it happens again I shall just leave it alone. But, imagine if you had a deadline, such as a student with a thesis?

Hi, Rusty!
I am already running into trouble........the sheep are being slaughtered - battered over the head, shot and attacked by vicious (imported) dogs!
I am still awaiting the reappearance of Clemma?
Or is Jim fated to remain a bachelor?
Isn't that very odd that Ros should have exactly the same trouble with her computer, as I did with mine on Sunday?
I thought I was being taken over by aliens!
Would that we still had Windows XP!
Now that, I liked - and understood!

Ros,
If it is any consolation, the problem hasn't recurred again....or not as yet!
Let's not tempt providence..........

Yes I liked Windows XP.

Last night I noticed 2 additions to the "power" button you press to shut down. One said Update and sleep and one update and shut down. I just pressed shut down. This morning I clicked on "sleep" without the update. I notice that now it has returned to just the 3 commands, sleep, shut down and restart, nothing about updates. Judging by some of the remarks I've read, lots of people have had the problem and are fed up with it.

Previously Microsoft installed OneNote, which drove me completely bonkers. I think it's still around but at least doesn't take over. Yet

Hello, Elle!
No, Jim is not fated to remain a bachelor boy.
Maybe he would be better off without Clemma?
Is the Reverend Fenstermacher in the tale, yet?
Just be patient and all will be revealed, and I think you may approve!!
You seem to like the tale anyway?
Yes, a pity for Rosalind, but it should resolve I would imagine.

Hello, Pigale!
Now, you must understand I know nothing about computers.
But, I have read that Linux is superior to Windows.
And there is something called Ubuntu?
It is good your Linux is flawless.
Have you never had Windows?

Hi Rusty,

In fact I have Linux Mint for Ubuntu. I also have an older computer which is Windows 7 I think (?) - or perhaps it is Windows 8,
and I certainly do not intend ever to get Windows 10 !

Sorry to hear of your gale warnings - Weather very summery here, (24C/25C), but rather fresh first thing in morning and in evening/night.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the Reverend Fenstermacher has just appeared - Levi is back 'home' visiting with his (most unappealing) brothers!
No, do not tell me the answers to any questions I might be driven to ask!
Treat them as purely rhetorical!
For me to know ahead of events unfolding naturally would spoil the story!
This is a wonderful book!
I am wondering now whether any future books by Mr M can possibly match up to this? (yes, you can answer this question!)
Time for a coffee............and maybe a shortcake biscuit.......

Hello, Pigale!
You mention Linux.
I am fairly certain that this is what my daughter uses in her office.
She seems very pleased with it.
You mention never getting Windows 10....... my "new" computer came with it.
I had no option!
But I think "refusing " Windows Updates are now a thing of the past?
From what I can gather you get them whether you want them or not!

Never mind, Ros....
As Scarlett O'Hara sad "Tomorrow is another day"..............

Hello, Elle!
No, I will not spoil the tale for you!
The Zendt brothers are dreadful, aren't they?
Was the Stoltzfus girl there?
I cannot remember if they asked about poor Elly?
Yes, there are other great books by Michener.
Texas is good, Alaska, you would like Chesapeake, The Covenant, Poland, Caravans. Enough to keep you going for months! And you have ordered Hawaii.
I would not get "Space". It was very hard going for me.

Good morning, Rusty!
And how are you today?
We have a beautiful day here! blue skies , sunshine and a most refreshing breeze1
It was lovely out walking!
Have your winds died down overnight?
Yes, the Stoltzfus girl was there....I think she and Mahlon are well matched( both obnoxious!)
But at least Rebecca was instrumental in turning Levi's life around for the better!
I really do have a quiet day ahead of me today......I think!
How about you?

Good morning, Elle,
Bit overcast here.
Yes, no winds today.
Imagine being Mahlon?
What a dreadful man.
You would think God would get fed up of Mahlon wanting him to do this, that, and the other.
Levi had a much more rewarding life, apart from the death of Elly.
I have no plans today, either.
