Do you know what a golf course is?
It is a large area of land which contains 18 little holes.
You have to strike a little ball with a selection of clubs in as few strokes as possible into all the 18 different holes.
Jim Furyk took only 58 hits doing that, today.
That has never been done on US PGA tour before, and I am not sure, but I think the tour started around 1929 AD.
Is that clear?
Emma was at the front when the road went up trying to drop some riders, etc.
Forget the Olympics, but in normal road racing, each team has a "captain on the road", who shall decide the tactics if the team cars can not get up to the riders. Yes, other riders can instead of the designated leader.
Things "happen" in cycling, which can mean a change of plan.
Things like crashes, poor form, the terrain, etc might mean someone else will be the protected rider that day.
The bridge was closed to pedestrians, motor bikes, buses, lorries.
Everything except cars.
If it got too windy, it would close to everything.
Just watched the women's road race.
Anna van der Breggen won in dramatic circumstances.
One of her team mates, Annemiek van Vleuten, had a bad crash when she was leading. I hope she is OK.

You are lucky you are out of range, or I might be tempted to clobber you with a golf club!

The women's Road Race was obviously exciting , though marred by the crash of the leading Dutch cyclist.
Let us hope she is not badly hurt.
How did Lizzie and the GB team get on?
Presumably she was not in the medals, or you would have mentioned it?

I have just been talking to my cousin (Sunday night!) and she is experiencing blustery winds in Blackburn and extremely heavy rain.
We are at the hospital in the morning.
My husband has to see a Respiratory physiotherapist to see if any help can be offered with his bronchiectasis, which is the result of his lung operation.
It is worth a try, as the condition, whilst not life threatening, can be extremely debilitating and hard to cope with at times.
Fingers crossed, the respiratory physiotherapy might help!

I thought it odd you did not know about golf!
Annamiek van Vleuten is recovering in hospital.
just seen a pic and she is sitting in bed smiling.
She has three broken ribs, broken collar bone, and a collapsed lung.
Lizzie was about fifth, I think.
I saw her give Nikki Harris a hard time early in the race, for not helping enough.
I went off her even more then.
Apparently there was a gust of 115mph at the Cairngorm weather station today. Still windy here, but the rain has not came to much.
I did not know that about your husband.
Yes, let's hope they can offer something to improve his condition.
There are improvements constantly in the world of medicine.
I have never heard of "cheeper" for a kiss either.

We have yet another lovely day here!
We had neither wind nor rain last night!
I hope your strong winds have died down, and your weather is good today?
I am just waiting for my friend to collect the dog, and then we are off to the Respiratory Clinic.
We have an early appointment, and the hospital is a long drive from here.
It is in an area unknown to us, so we shall be exploring new territory.
I have no idea how long we shall be there.......I guess it depends on whether tests need to be done, or if it is maybe a question of teaching my husband special breathing exercises?
We shall soon find out!

We are home again! I think the visit went well.
The physio had a long talk with my husband , discussing his breathing problems and gave him some exercises to do.
There will never be a cure for his present condition, which is a not uncommon result of the surgery he underwent, but it seems these days it might be "managed" a little better than previously thought.
At least, after five years of his struggling with this, some serious consideration is now being given to the matter.
Previously, the emphasis was all on beating the cancer, which was of course the prime concern.
This is just a 'by-product' of the surgery as it were.
But a difficult one for him
He has another appointment in two weeks.

You and your husband do plenty of walking which is good for his lungs.
The physio will help, I'd imagine.
His next appointment is only two weeks away?
That seems very soon?
I take it you found the the place OK, being in uncharted territory?
I have not watched any sport today.
I do not think there is anything much that appeals to me today.
But I'll investigate after I have been to the postbox.
Still quite breezy up here.
I read in my local paper, that the weather is to get warmer from Friday, for a spell.
I quite like it the way it is!

Yes, I was surprised at how soon the next appointment is.
But I think the physio wants to see how easily (or otherwise) my husband copes with the exercises.
Have no fear........I shall ride shotgun and see that he carries them out!
Up until recently, the attitude has been that the breathing problems were an issue with which he had to learn to live.
Now, emphasis is being brought to bear upon it, and solutions/ alleviations are being looked for.
That is good!
Yes, we found the Clinic! but by no means easily.
And it was a long drive........
But when I mentioned that to the physio when she was arranging his next appointment, she asked where we lived and then offered to see him at a nearby hospital!
So, just down the road next time.....
I see that Novak Djokovic went out to Del Potro in the first round!

Samir Ait Said suffered a terrific broken leg as he fell from the vault.
I had a look on google and his leg (below his knee) looks to be an angle.
