Good evening, Elle!
Fairly cold here.
Wardrobe here and assembled (I cheated and got a handyman to do it!)
Ref your confab with Malone.
I was not on that setters wave length at all!
Never heard of a "snow job"!
I thought tree fern, yesterday, was a first class clue, once I got
" weed" out of my head.
Maggie and the painter are coming on Monday.
My son will be getting off the train from London in a few minutes.
He passed the course in Kent.

Rusty, I was relieved to hear that you too were not on today's setter's wave length. I didn't enjoy the crossword very much and found it a real grind in places.

Hello, Malone!
No, I found it a real grind today.
Hopefully we have a more enjoyable setter tomorrow!

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that the wardrobe is "up and running" so to speak!
I think it a jolly good idea to have a handyman fit it together- why labour unnecessarily?
Are you pleased with it?
Still haven't done Malone's other clue! I am giving in not- so- gracefully!
I am about to make a start on a jigsaw puzzle that I got for Christmas! It looks very difficult as there are a lot of small figures on it and they all look very similar!
(I haven't done a jigsaw for years!)
Fortunately I also got as a present one of those jigsaw puzzle cases, so that I can keep the puzzle in that whilst continuing to do it at spare moments!
Good that your son passed his course! Was he at the old RAF centre at Manston?

Malone!
I give in! What is the answer?

Elle, the answer is World Famous. It's an anagram of what you had plus 'our' from the clue.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, and the handyman was good craic!
Yes, it is much better than the old one.
Hope Malone does not mind, but I think your answer is "world famous".
Yes, he was at Manston.
Not done a crossword for years.
Nor have I came across a jigsaw "case"!

Rusty, of course I wouldn't mind if you gave Elle the answer - I think I beat you to it by about five seconds.

I'm sure tomorrow's crossword will be more enjoyable - it'd be hard to be otherwise!

Hi, Rusty!
A jigsaw case - if indeed that is the correct term for it - is a large board (to accommodate 1,000 piece jigsaw) that has covers - so you can leave the part- completed jigsaw in situ whilst you are doing it.
I am under the impression that you can stand the case on its side rather than having to leave it flat but am not sure about that?
I will tell you how effective it is once I have experienced such!
Both are a present from my daughter.
I'm not getting that clue?
How do you arrive at "world famous"?
I can see it is an anagram of "formal do" (I'd already got that far this morning) and now plus 'w' from 'with'?
But there is still a 'u' and an 's' missing?
How Malone has explained it doesn't provide those letters??
Am I being dim here?

Elle, you're not being at all dim - my duff information would never provide a satisfactory answer to the clue! Your 'formal do' was fine - my 'our' wasn't. I think I was so dissatisfied, in general, with the crossword that I didn't even check through or parse some of my answers - if they fitted, they went in.

'World Famous' it was, but I haven't worked it all out - and I'd probably mess it up if I made an attempt.

I think the "w" definitely must come from "with".
Could the "u" and "s" be "us" from "our party"?

I'd been looking for a political 'party' and hadn't thought of that solution before.
