I don't think Tower Hamlets is a real place. It was a re-branding exercise to make places like the Isle of Dogs and Bethnal Green sound more attractive!

I think Estate Agents are also responsible for creating "villages" from small areas of larger towns to attract buyers

Hi, Rusty!
I forgot to comment on your decorating! That is good that all is finished. Are you happy with the result?
Are you introducing any "colour" into the room? Bedspread / duvet cover/ whatever?
I hope you get your blind fixed soon.
I've been referring to my Xword book as having come from Amazon - okay, I'll admit it! A senior moment! - but of course it came from Ebay.
Yes, from World of Books.
And yes, I have sent Ebay an email expressing surprise, puzzlement, and disappointment!
We shall what that brings forth........

Chris, I think the name Tower Hamlets has existed for centuries?
the name originated from the 16th century when the Constable of the Tower of London commanded the Tower Hamlet Militia.
Tower Hamlets forms the core of the East End.
But I think the Council was only formed in the early 1960s?
I'm not sure of any of this - it is what I think I remember !

Apparently there was a warden of the Tower Hamlets in the 16th century, but the term fell out of use until it was revived for the unfashionable East End areas and created as a borough in 1965. I think the reason I originally suggested isn't far off the mark!

Helli, Elle!
I think your pesky bug has crossed the border!
I am bunged up!
Yes, painting is fine.
He is coming back in 5/6 weeks to do two more rooms.
My blinds man has not appeared.
I shall phone him tomorrow.
Oh dear. You and your senior moments.
Any response from eBay or World of Books?

Hi, Rusty!
I am sorry to hear that you have caught the "dreaded lurgy"!
I do hope it isn't the same bug that I have had, as it was most unpleasant as you know.
But I haven't have a cold? only a persistent chesty cough
Fingers crossed that it's something and nothing, and you feel better tomorrow.
Glad the painting is fine - and two more rooms are going to be done, too!
I sent two emails - one to ebay in response to the email they sent me about my order - and one to ebay@worldofbooks - the latter being a different email address that was on the invoice that accompanied the parcel.
But no response so far. I guess it's early days.
It doesn't really matter, as it was only six crosswords that had been completed - it's more about the principle involved , isn't it?
How are your winds?

Hello, Elle!
Think you will get on best dealing with World of Books.
They may be concerned about their "feedback" ratings.
Oh, I am fine. A heavyish cold is all.
It is wild and wet here.
My blindsman will be here first thing in the morning.
He telephoned earlier.
He was over in Fife most of the day.
Any weather with you down in Kent?
