Hi. Pigale !
How about this for a prompt reply?!
I was sitting at the computer - having just been writing an email letter - when your message came up on the screen!
I'm glad that you enjoyed "Becoming Jane" ( I'm always nervous when I recommend something to someone in case the person doesn't like it!)
I watched it at the cinema, though, when the film first came out, so didn't experience any sound problems.
Speaking of the cinema, I haven't been for absolutely ages! More usually, we go to the local theatre.

Another prompt reply Elle!

I have not been to the cinema for donkeys years ! I used to go regularly when in Paris to see the latest films before moving to England (late teens/early twenties) - but since then, hardly ever.

Like you I enjoy a good play and going to the theatre or to the opera (for ballet rather than Opera music) has always been a big favourite of mine.

Next item on the DVD agenda is Billy Elliot - I have already seen it, but I am looking forward to seeing it again. Then the two Delderfield,

Am not in a reading mood at present, but when I am in the mood, I can easily read three books a week - so I'll catch up; meanwhile i am still buying the books which are piling up, as we mentioned yesterday !

Hello Doglet and Elle,

How are you getting on with the forsyte saga? and what did you start reading this morning ! Me, at 4 am, I see nothing !

I received my DVD this morning; another quick delivery since I only ordered it yesterday. It is the version with Damien Lewis but I don't really know him (at least not the name anyway), and I have not seen the earlier version, so no comparison to be made.

Hope you both had a kinder weather today - for a visit to the zoo, it's better if it's not raining no? I won't mention my weather !

Hi! I've been out for most of the day (always the same on Thursdays)
I've only recently looked in on the Forum.......
I'm glad you enjoyed the Zoo, Doglet! I especially like seeing the tigers - they are my favourite.
It's certainly been a beautiful day here- blue skies and sunshine.
I hate to say this, Pigale, but it's a shame you didn't buy the 'original 'series of the Forsyte Saga. It was brilliant! The repeat appeared to be much inferior- after an initial viewing, I didn't bother to watch any more!
I'm reading "Mansfield Park " now.... it's a real visit down Nostalgia Lane this week.... rereading golden oldies.....

Good Morning !

Elle, I was tempted to buy the original DVD but the price was astronomical, particularly due to the exchange rate being what it is - I did not fancy paying something in the region or 70 euros (even second hand!) for a DVD!

Remember though that since I did not see the original version, I will have no comparison.

Talking of animals in the Zoo, my all time favourite has always been elephants - I am 'godmother' on paper to Kuruba, a female elephant who I sponsor via WWF - It is nothing more than giving them a donation, but It feels nice to know I have a elephant for godchild !

Just went to market and bought a couple of jumpers for the coming season - nice and not too expensive. I like shopping in the market, they have decent quality at unexpensive price and it allows me to keep up with the fashion.

Weather fantastic, but due to change overnight I think.

Hi!
It's been a lovely day here, too, but the forecast is bad for the w/e - heavy rain at the beginning of Saturday, with some lighter showers possible on Sunday.
Which zoo did you visit , Doglet? My daughter , grandson and I went to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park a few months ago. I was very impressed with that . There was safari ride/ trek there which was an interesting option.
I also like going to London Zoo, but you would be disappointed , Pigale, as there are no longer any elephants there!
Have an enjoyable weekend!

Morning, Doglet!
A bit of a drizzly day but warmer!
I've been to Whipsnade but quite a long time ago now- before the elephants were transferred.
There was some controversy over why the elephants were moved.
The zoo authorities said that it was a long term plan to give them large pastures, but as the announcement came straight after one of the elephants had trampled a keeper to death, this was regarded with some suspicion!
I've walked the dog, done the Times Jumbo General Knowledge crossword and am shortly planning to watch the Athletics!
Family coming tomorrow !
