Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I would call an Aberdeen terrier a "Scottie' , too!
I know two "Dees", Rusty!
One called "Dilys", and the other "Dorothy".
Both use the initial of their forenames , the letter "D" , to be known by......
Hence "Dee"!
Just like I use "L" / Elle on here, instead of my given name.
How old are your neighbour's young grandchildren?
We keep a tin of sweets handy for young callers at this time of year....
We shall get "Penny for the Guy" requests soon, and, later, carol singers!
BB will be wearing a Hallowe'en costume for the children's Park Run on Sunday!
And YB and the other youngsters will be dressing up for nursery on Hallow'en itself (Thursday).
My daughter has bought them special costumes.

Hello, Elle!
Chambers gives "Dee" as a male and female name!
Dee Brown wrote "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee", but his given name was "Dorris".
A very good book, too!
I also have a pal who answers to "Double D".
His given name and surname both begin with "D".
My neighbour's young ones are four and seven.
Two bonnie wee girls!
Oh, the Park Run is on Sunday.
Competition for the New York Marathon, I'd say!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh, I did not know that "Dee" is an actual name?
My Chambers does not give it as such...or not that I can find, anyway...simply as a Scots form of "die", and also the fourth letter of the alphabet.
And Collins additionally gives it as two rivers.
Both my friends use "Dee" as an alternative to forenames that they do not like!
Yes, the adult Park Runs are held every Saturday throughout the local parks...and the Children's Runs on Sundays.
They have both become very popular, and I think they occur throughout the whole of the UK now.
So is it the New York Marathon this coming Sunday, then ?
I wonder will it be shown on the BBC channel?

Hello, Elle!
My Chambers is older than yours, 10th edition, and there is a section at the back of the dictionary entitled, "Some First Names".
I found "Dee" between "Declan" and "Deepak".
Yes, the New York Marathon is this Sunday.
I know it is on EuroSport, but I don't know about BBC.
Possibly on Red Button?

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I have discovered that I, too, have a section on 'First Names' at the back of my Chambers!
I have learned something new!
All it says , though, in my Chambers edition (the ill-fated 13th) is:
"Dee, m and f from the surname, the river name, or a shortening of any name with the initial D".
I shall check on the NY Marathon nearer the time!

Good morning, Elle!
Great day here, so far, and frosty!
I was out doing a couple of chores earlier.
Have the day to myself now.
There are some excellent sections at the back of Chambers.
"Phrases and Quotations from Foreign Languages" has been helpful and interesting to me, in the past.

Good morning, Rusty!
Dull and drizzly here.
What a swing from yesterday's sunshine!
You were out early doing your errands.......still at least your jobs are out of the way now, and you have the rest of the day free.
I am expecting some parcels, but no details as to when.
I had forgotten about the additional sections at the back of Chambers!
Worth my having a fresh browse through.
Now...this will amuse you, in the light of what we were talking about yesterday regarding "Dee"......
There is a dog comes to the park sometimes....
His name is "Deefa"....
When I once queried the origin of the name , the owner said "Yes.... "D" for "dog".....
Not bad, eh?
I had forgotten about it until, rather timely, I saw the dog this morning!

Hello Elle, Rusty and everyone!

Long time no "write" !!!

Hope you are both well - All is fine at this end but I have had big
computer problems.
Luckily my friend from England is staying with me for a month and
being an (ex) computer engineer, he was able, eventually, to set
it to right.
Having tried many ways to mend it, including analysing the hard disk
etc,,,, all this to no avail, we then decided that he
would disinstall Google Chrome (the server I use), after saving my
various documents on a key, and re-install it.

All this took a fair while since there were many things to check before
taking this final decision which, luckily, did the trick!

Weather dull and none too warm - we are having the odd day of
sunshine, but the nights are definitely getting rather cold.
I know it is the same for you, since I watch the news and weather
on BBC in the evening.

Congratulations to England for beating The All Blacks! What a
performance. Very disappointing for Wales though, it was my
favourite team! (I don't think much of the French team this year -
They tend to sing 'Cocorico' when they lead at half-time and then
stop their efforts in the second half...... and get truly beaten!

What are your news?

Hello, Elle!
Great weather here.
Yes, I get whatever I have to do over early in the morning.
It suits me fine, that way.
Chambers has very helpful add-ons at the back of the book.

Hello, Pigale!
You were missed!
Lucky you to have a computer whizz kid on hand.
Glad you have it running well again.
I think Google Chrome is quite popular.
I have that on Chromebook, and Brave on my tablet.
Been great weather here, mainly, but we do have frosty mornings!
I don't have much in the way of news, I'm afraid.
Just taking things day by day!
