Hello, Elle!
I've known about Miss Milne for a long time.
She was found murdered in 1912, not far from where I live, in Broughty Ferry.
When I first learned about her, I went to see the house she lived in, just out of curiosity.
Then, it was a 23 roomed mansion, but Miss Milne only used two of them.
The rest of the rooms were empty.
Now, it is a care home.
I first heard of the book a few months ago, and thought I'd try it.
I am liking it!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah , I see....
It must have been interesting to go to see the house where all this took place.... if a bit macabre?
And, from what basic facts you know, are you find the storytelling true to form?
I suppose in a way you have read books telling a "story", but loosely based on facts, before.... ...apart from James Michener, that is......
What about the series of books we read by Lilian Beckwith?
They were based on " semi-true" stories of her life on the island, weren't they?
They did not seem to be strictly autobiographical......
Very amusing they were, too!

Hello, Elle!
Here's a wee bit about Miss Milne and the book.

https://relaxandreadreviews.weebly.com/book-reviews/the-secret-life-and-curious-death-of-miss-jean-milne-andrew-nicoll

I knew the area fairly well, but I wanted to see the mansion, which was well documented in the book.
So far, everything is accurate.
The author got the police files released and studied them and found things that the public were not told of etc and decided to write a book.
He had known about the murder since he was a young boy.
Yes, Miss Peckwitt told smashing tales but were any true?
She had me round her wee finger for quite a while!

Hi rusty
Adam Yates has done a potted profile of the stages (incomplete as yet) and predicted winners for BBC Sport here:

He got yesterday's winner right!

Hello Chris,
Thanks for that!
Today's stage is a similar stage to yesterdays having a hilly profile nearing the end.
One for the classics riders possibly, rather than a pure sprinter.
We shall see!

Good morning, Rusty!
A dullish morning here......and so far a tad cooler.
I have just read the synopsis of your book......
Yes, the novel does sound very interesting!
And apparently the author comes up with a plausible solution at the end......
I wonder will the police in real life consider that?
Can a case still be "open" so very many years later, if no verdict was ever reached?
I shall wait with interest for you to reach the end of the book!
Miss Peckwitt may have told porkies, but she was very funny!
Women's Quarter Finals today!

Good morning, Elle!
A rainy day here!
I have been hectic this morning!
The narrator of the novel is the police sergeant who was involved, if you can understand that.
I don't know if it is still open or not.
They had one suspect but he had a good alibi.
He was in Antwerp at the time!
I have not got to that bit in the book yet.
Miss Peckwitt was a best selling author!
I liked her books.
I am off to Pine Cone with the girls now.
Not had a minute to open my paper yet!

Hi, Rusty!
I hope you have had a good time at the Pine Cone with your granddaughters?
What did you have to eat?
I haven't looked at the crossword today, either .....not as yet anyway!
I have been busy doing some online ordering, arranging for our annual central heating boiler service, and organising a visit to the dentist.
All sorted now!
I have been reading about Serena Williams, Fabio Fognini, and Nick Kyrgios all being fined for their bad behaviour on the tennis courts!
Serena for damaging the grass match court when she threw her racquet in a temper, when practising; Fognini for swearing in Italian and damning the English and wishing that a bomb would fall on Wimbledon(!); and Kyrgios for unsportsmanlike conduct ...he was penalised for dissent towards the match umpires.
Jolly good! They all deserved it!
I am going to chase up some Quarter Finals tennis now......

Hello, Elle!
I only had a glass of water at Pine Cone.
The girls did the eating!
Still raining here!
I have done my puzzle now.
16D, Not sure if the parse works for me.
I have a buckshee "a".
I am surprised at Serena abusing the court!
Hope Jo wins!

Chris, Adam tips himself to win on Thursday in the mountains!
