He tipped himself to win a stage at a previous Grand Tour (can't remember if it was the Giro or the Vuelta) and then did so! Where's your money going?

No money going on it for me.
I think Nibali should do well, though.

Are you picking NIbali for the overall, rusty? Not a bad call. I meant for Thursday's stage specifically for Adam, though!

Hi, Rusty!
I watched Simona Halep beat Zhang quite comfortably.
But what an exciting match it was between Serena Williams and Alison Riske .
I had never heard of Riske before yesterday..... but she put up an amazing fight against Serena, before finally losing to her.
And the Svitolina v Muchova match was good value, too.
But Jo?
I did not see much of her match.
It had got to Jo's leading the first set at 4 to1, when my daughter phoned ........
When I went back to the TV after the phone call ended, the match was nearly over !
Jo had lost the first set 7- 6...... and was just about to lose the second.
So she is now out of the tournament!
Did you see it?
What on earth happened?

Hello, Elle!
I did not see any tennis today, Elle.
Pity Jo lost.
Yes, that is the correct parse.
I seemed to be short of an "a" when I was doing it.
Silly me!

Hi, Rusty!
You will have been busy watching the cycling!
Hence no time for the tennis!
I remember the name Adam Yates from past mentions...didn't he get to wear the white jersey as best young rider a year or so ago?
(I could be misremembering?)
And has a twin brother called Simon?
I have discovered that the school holidays are nearly upon us!
BB breaks up on the 19th of this month, and our two eldest grandsons on the 24th, I think?
(A different county, different holiday times)
I expect we can be expecting family visits, and individual sleepovers!
How are you getting on with your book?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I was watching the cycling.
Adam and Simon are brothers but I do not know if they are twins.
The white jersey? Perhaps! I am not at all sure.
I don't know much about the brothers.
Wout van Aert is wearing the white jersey just now.
Our schools are into their second week off.
The book?
I have finished it.
It was a bit far fetched at the end!
Turns out the narrator, the sergeant, murdered Miss Milne.
He said he had been having an affair with her since he was 14!
He murdered her when she took up with another man.
I don't believe a word of it!
The first half of the book was good, but I was not so keen on the second part.
Thank goodness it's finished!

Rusty, I'm glad you've finished the Ferry book. I was waiting to hear what you thought of it. A friend and I read it - separately - a year or so ago, and we both felt quite cheated at the end, by the ending! It was a shame too, as we'd enjoyed much of the early part. The setting and the small town/big town rivalry was done well.

Hello, Malone!
I completely agree!
I loved the Ferry/Dundee rivalry!
The first half of the book was great but towards the end it went astray.
I am not sure whether to believe the author regarding the only name he changed was the sergeant's because he may still have family in the Ferry or Dundee.
I don't suppose it would be too hard to find out his real name.
I came across Trench before, in the case about Oscar Slater.

Rusty, like you I don't know whether to believe the author about the single name change. You mentioned Oscar Slater, and that is a case/story that's fascinated my husband for years. You might like Margalit Fox's book, 'Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and The Case Of The Wrongfully Imprisoned Man'.
