First Dutch rider to wear yellow since Eric Breukink in 1989! (so the BBC website tells me...)

Hello, Elle!
Eddy was a superb rider! The best!
He is looking very well for his age.
I spotted Billie Jean, but that was all.
I think Rod Laver is there every year.
I keep looking for Jack Nicklaus!
Yes, Jo played as well as I have seen her play.
A worthy winner (from a Sloane fan!).
Be good if she made the final.
I'm having a break from TV, too.
I hope to see the first bull run at Pamplona tomorrow, though, if I can find somewhere showing it.
There's no tennis tomorrow?

Hello, Pigale!
I agree that Bernal maybe too young yet to survive a tough three week tour.
He's a wonderful climber, but not good against the clock.
Will be interesting to see how he goes in tomorrow's team time trial, especially now the teams are reduced to eight riders.
If he gets dropped, will they wait for him?
They have Thomas to think about, too.
Could be interesting!
In the (VO2 max) testing on Bernal, his figures are just below those of Greg LeMond.
I think there are several cross country skiers rated higher than Greg, but he is the top ranked cyclist.
Indurain's figures are very high, too.

Hi, Rusty!
Oops! I fell asleep.......and missed the latter half of "The Voice Kids"!
Oh dear!
Mind you, I am not really surprised.....I. usually feel pretty wiped out after a migraine, and yesterday's was a pretty bad one in that my head really hurt.
More usually, I only have vision disturbances these days.
I am surprised you didn't see Rod Laver, as he was sitting just in front of Billie Jean?
And Martina was sat next but one to her.... ..on Billie-Jean's left!
When I listed the celebs I had seen, I lumped them all together...in actuality some were on Centre Court and others on Court One.
No, there is no tennis tomorrow..... there never is on the middle Sunday.
(At least, not unless the weather is so appalling that the matches get very behind schedule)
Don't forget though that the Highlights of the Lausanne DL are showing on BBC2 tomorrow at 1.30pm., should you want to see them?
The BBC is generously offering us 90 minutes viewing on this occasion!
Thank you for telling me about the first osprey fledging!
I have just visited the website and watched the clip.......
Isn't it exciting?

Hello, Elle!
I just got a quick glimpse of Billie Jean, so I likely missed Rod and Martina.
I'll pay more attention next week!
I won't watch the Diamond League.
I have golf and Le Tour and the women's football final, if I can fit them in.
A bit of channel hopping required!
It's PT5 who has fledged.
PT4 will hopefully fledge in a day or so.
I read something about the blue identification tags on the birds' legs.
The Scottish birds have the blue tag on their left leg, yet the English and Welsh birds have the blue tag on their right leg.
I did not read an explanation, but it seems just a tad odd?

Good morning, Rusty!
We have rain!
I had quite a refreshing , cooler walk as a result!
What is it like up your way?
I have tried Googling why the Scottish birds are tagged on a different leg from the English and Welsh birds, but apart from confirming what we already know, I found no further information.
It may well have to remain a mystery...... unless you have discovered something additional?
Right.......a coffee and then a spell with the Everyman!

Good morning, Elle.
It's a bit cloudy here today and a fresh breeze a-blowing.
I have not explored the blue legs any further.
I may have came across it when reading about the efforts to establish ospreys at Poole Harbour.
They are using young Scottish birds apparently.
Birds born in Scotland and taken down to Poole.
Wonder what leg will be tagged?
Will they be Scottish or English birds?
Hope the efforts are successful.
This learning to fly is a tricky business.
PT5 fell out of the nest this morning!
He came back safely though!

Hi, Rusty!
Lordy, Rusty! what happened then, when PT5 fell out of the nest?
Did he just manage to flutter his wings..... and fly back?
I think I'm glad that I'm not a bird.....
I meant to mention yesterday that I liked the Saturday crossword.....
My favourite was 25a: "corvette"
Warship conquistador's docked taking surgeon on board.
I saw "Cortez" immediately, having had to study John Keat's poems at school!
....."or like stout Cortez when with eagle eyes....... He stared at the Pacific ...(blah , blah)..... silent upon a peak in Darien"
Or something like that!
(At last, a just reward for labours past! a belated thank you to my persevering English teacher!)
What are you up to? Watching cycling/ bull running/ golf?
I have an hour to go before the Athletics start!

Hello, Elle!
No, PT5 fell completely out of the nest, and out of the shot.
He reappeared a couple of minutes later.
Yesterday's puzzle was a good one.
I was ages trying the parse for 26.
I eventually discovered that the graduate was a "bed"!
Bachelor of Education.
Why are graduates called bachelors, I wonder?
I'll have a search for the answer later during the cycling.
I watched the "encierro" (bull run) this morning.
Encierro is a new word for me!
It looked fairly uneventful, but there was at least one goring.
I'm on the side of the bulls!
