Rusty, I think 'Eck' is dying out - maybe a good thing! The only time I've seen it in the last decade was an occasional reference to Alex Salmond. 'Tam' also seems to be fading away, there was plenty of them in my childhood.

Good morning, Malone!
I think you are correct.
Not heard of a "Shug" for a while, too.
My granddaughters have discussions about what are "Mum" names, nowadays.
Meaning names that their generation of girls don't have.
They tell me that "Debbie", "Linda", and "Karen" are "Mum" names!
The young ones are an education, I think!

Rusty, I avoid all football stuff, so I've missed that about the manager. I always disliked 'Shug' (or even worse, Shuggie) as it just sounds awful! I like the discussion about 'Mum' names. On a similar theme, my family were discussing the return of all the 'below stairs' names - Ruby, Lily, Reg, Alfie, etc.

Yes, lots of older names returning.
One of my granddaughters was at a baby naming ceremony the other day, and one of the babies was "Rosie".
I like "Rosie"!

Yes, Rusty, 'Rosie' is lovely. I think, though, that my granny would be slightly annoyed about these short names being used as they are - she'd expect Rosemary, Archibald, Alfred etc on the birth certificates, then the families could shorten them!

Hello, Malone.
The other baby at the naming ceremony was called "Grace".
Another traditional and very nice name.
I had never heard of a baby naming ceremony before.
Always learning!
