Hello Elle and Rusty,

Not a good thing if you are on Red Alert - we have the same
system in France; at present, we are just in Orange Alert for snow
early evening but I personally doubt that we, here, will get a lot.
It is supposed to come from the West though, which is most
unusual. There seems to be snow coming from all sorts of directions
at the moment!
Most unusual too for Portugal to have nasty weather at this time
of the year. I used to go on holiday just South of Lisbon in
January every year, and always came back with a tan! (Mind you,
the mountainous North of the country has a different climat)

Elle, I may not have expressed myself clearly on the hospital files etc;
They are not given automatically to us (except xrays etc) - but the
actual report of our stay in hospital, the notes written by Drs and
the treatment we had is available to us (photo-copies) on demand;
in other words, anyone can have everything so long as they ask,
and it CANNOT be refused - a patient is entitled tohave any
documents he wants.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I have just heard about your Red Alert.
The report stated that this is the first time ever for a Red Alert in Scotland?
Is this correct?
We were on an Amber Alert this morning, when I checked...but I cannot access the BBC website right now......it is telling me to try again later.......
I don't know why?
One of my friends is trying to get home (to Essex) from Majorca.
She has only got as far as the airport so far - over a two hour flight delay .
she will text me when she gets home.
I am sure between you all, you will see that Miss L-B gets home safely!
No, not a good idea for her to walk!
Brrrh! It is snowing again here.
How did you do with your crossword ?
I thought it quite reasonable today?
Just two still to parse.....

Hello, Pigale!
Ah, yes, I see what you mean!
We are entitled to ask for copies of blood tests results and suchlike requested by the GP that go back directly to him.
Would you believe that we are charged for the photocopies!!!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, on Red Alert now!
Have my torch etc laid out in case of power cut.
I think the "alert" system is relatively new, though.
I am sure years ago we had awful weather without being "alerted".
I do not know how it will affect travel.
Will buses and trains in "Red Alert Land" be forbidden to travel?
Our local bus company Xplore Dundee have said they will run the buses as long as they can, and Stagecoach are telling their potential passengers to stay home!
Not heard yet, I am sure it will be up on Twitter soon, though.
La Bamba will be fine.
Some one of us will get her!

This Red Alert (or whatever colour, yellow, orange and red) is
reasonably new here too - Well, some 10-15 years or so.

The problem is that the Met Office has so often been criticised for
not warning people of whatever weather, be it snow, ice, or heatwave,
that now they are extra-cautious and tend to put an alert when
there is hardly need for it.
As a result, a lot of people tend not to take them seriously any more
and this is even more dangerous!

I am convinced that the present Orange Alert for around here is
totally unwarranted - a yellow one perhaps, sort of be careful
particularly if you drive, which I feel any driver should be in the
Winter!

Hello, Elle,
Sorry, yes, I have done the puzzle.
It was good!
Update on prescription!!!!!
The chemist lady 'phoned me.
She had contacted surgery and they had not realised it was only a 5 day supply they prescribed.
So, GP is going to do another prescription.
This will be electronically sent to chemist tomorrow, she said.
Sounds great? Oh, no, no, no!
First, the chemist has none in stock, so there will be a delay there.
Second, the surgery does not know if they will be open tomorrow because of the snow, and won't be able to send the prescription!
I think there is a conspiracy against me receiving treatment!
I am going to watch the cycling (Red Button) now.
The return of Trotty!
She and Jason are riding in the Track World Championships at Apeldoorn this week.
They have taken baby Albie with them!

Hi, Rusty!
Are you actually out of tablets then?
I had perhaps misunderstood in thinking that you had five days supply?
This may seem too simple...but can you not take the prescription to a different chemist, who might perhaps have the medication in stock?
But at least you have solved the matter for the future?
That is at least an achievement!
Now.....instead of the snow being "crunchy," it all appears to have "frozen solid" and is very slippery to walk upon.
I think tomorrow may well be a nightmare getting from A to B.
( Oh dear! we are quick to complain, aren't we?
I suppose it is because we are so ill equipped to deal with all this).
EuroSport Player have (belatedly) sent me a Survey to complete, telling them why I am not going to renew my membership subscription.
I dutifully completed it all....ticking the appropriate boxes etc.
I made it clear that my main objection was to their taking my money, yet withdrawing their services.
The EP website was down for two to three months.
I missed out on all the Australian Open tennis, plus I lost nearly three months subscription money.
Having duly ticked all the necessary boxes, I came to the end of the Survey, when I was then asked in effect........
"So do you have a reason for leaving EuroSport Player"?
Grrrhh!!!!!

Hello, Elle!
I have solved no such thing.
I have a 5 day supply of doses. It will run out on Sunday.
I have used my prescription.
I need another one, one which will give me a month's supply say?
5 days is not ideal.
And if the surgery is closed tomorrow, because of snow, goodness knows when I will get it.
I am not traipsing around chemists, (we have a Red Alert and the police say, "do not travel") especially when the one I use has ads all over the place telling how straightforward/wonderful it is letting them deal with your surgery and prescriptions.
Thank goodness the girl at the chemist seems to be on the ball!
If your roads are bad tomorrow, forget A to B, stay home!
EuroSport Player are a dead loss!
Jo Rowsell is co-commentating on the cycling on Eurosport tonight!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh dear! I'm sorry.......my grasp of the situation was obviously wrong!
I've never known our surgery to close.......but then we do not normally get such extreme weather as you do.
Your weather conditions , as now, can be so extremely severe, I can see it is an entirely different scenario.
Under the circumstances, might it be possible for your chemist to use their authority to grant you more tablets?
They have already communicated with your GP. so know the situation........
The medication having been ordered should surely arrive by the weekend?
And they could deliver it to you?
( I am doing my best to help you here .......so don't yell at me if this wouldn't work! )
Yes, I shall stay home tomorrow!
It is snowing very heavily indeed now ...we have already had several inches of fresh snow fall.
I like Jo Rowsell Shand.
Enjoy the cycling!

Hello, Elle,
I think I have said my chemist has no more doses.
They are out of stock of them, even if they had a prescription for them.
They will order them when they get a prescription for them.
They do not have a prescription from my surgery yet, but may, tomorrow, IF the surgery opens, and one is sent electronically.
But the weather may prevent surgery opening.
They suggested phoning for an update around lunch time.
I agreed.
I shall just try to be a patient patient.
Weather is wild here, snow and winds.
Roll on Spring!

Rusty,

I do understand that you do not have a prescription, but wouldn't that particular medicine be something that your
chemist would normally have in stock, or do they only order some
when one of their patients needs it?

Because it seems to me that they could order them in any case,
so they would be in situ for whenever your prescription arrived - and
also available for anyone else that may need them?

Or do they NEED a prescription to renew their stock? I mean, are they
not allowed to order simply to replenish their stock?

It is snowing here too - not big flakes, but sticking to the ground -
still cold and windy, so it might freeze overnight, even though
we won't have the same quantity to either you or Elle.
