I do not remember any East German failing a test, but they were rigorously tested before leaving Germany for competitions.
The Stasi made sure of that and that whatever they had been on was no longer detectable.
There is a tale by a great Canadian female swimmer (forgotten who!) who turned up at a swimming competition and the East German women had the dressing room next door.
The Canadians were convinced they were next to men, from the deep unnatural voices the German girls had.

It was Elgol, on Skye, that she landed.
Elgol is Bruach.

I think you will like it.
Your clue appears to be,
"f" for following, start of "u"nusually, fast is "Lent", and movie is "film",
giving "fulfillment".
"Gripping" in the clue means the word "film" is in the middle of the rest of the word, somewhere.
I like potato scones.

I have had a quick look at Elgol; I shall go back to Google later, and look again - and longer next time.
What wonderful untamed countryside, and sea views.
It is good to have an image in one's head when reading the book.
I made a mess of that clue!
I had been googling for the name of a film containing relevant letters!
I made it far more difficult than it in fact was!
I suppose it was something that I arrived at the answer!
I haven't heard them called potato "scones" but yes, I would imagine that they are the same as potato "cakes"?

Well, my potato (tattie) scones are store bought from ASDA.
i do not heat them but I do put butter on them and they are fine.
You will be much happier now you have the parse for your clue.
It is easy to get an idea into your head and ignoring something that may be more obvious.

I am back to normal.
My bug took a few days to surrender, though.

In my humble opinion the Wee Frees are best avoided!
The "vile smelling woman" was maybe a very nice person and could have been working on her croft or lobstering or other work and had no time to wash or change.
What Miss Peckwitt deemed appropriate to write 40/50 years ago may not "do" nowadays?
She managed to upset the locals, anyway!
