Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I am enjoying Miss P's tales very much?
I like her dry humour!
So far I would have said that she talks of her fellow "conspirators" with great affection?
I am wondering what transpires to change that, as the Islanders apparently take against her when her first book is published?
I am puzzled though by her referring to herself as a "middle-aged spinster" when she in fact was married.
I know the books are only semi-true, but it seems a strange "deception" - or do you think that her "character " comes over better described as such?
(Both my volumes arrived early!)

Chris,
According to the blog, today is the 36th day of the osprey eggs' incubation.
Normal incubation time is 35 -42 days, with 37 days being the average,

Hello, Elle!
Miss Peckwitt tells fine tales, I certainly agree.
But for almost forty years I thought she was unwed!
She certainly made it appear that way.
Living with her friend, Mary, then to Bruach to have a rest cure with Morag and the cockerel.
I have no idea why she did that, and as I say, all these years I really thought she was "Miss Peckwitt"!
Are you up to the bit where Ruari and co are tossing a coin for something or other.
I thought that was hilarious.
When the coin was tossed you had to call out "heads" or "the man with the fork"!
Took me a minute or so to work out that "the man with the fork" was Britannia.
I had many a chuckle at that!
My book is coming from "Julie's Books" and just a tad slow!

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
I am up and about and logged in early this morning........
Yes, there are so many funny bits apart from Britannia and her trident!
I sit there constantly chuckling to myself!
For instance, I liked Morag's idea of matrimony....
"In love! In love! Listen to it!............ I married a good enough man and he had a good enough wife in myself and between us we had five children.........
What for would we be wantin' love as well! Surely I know as much about love as I do about electricity and I want nothing to do with either of them if I can help it!"
And when asking a girl/lady to dance, the menfolk used the same tone of voice "as when wishing to move an obstinate cow"..........
"It sounded suspiciously like the English farmer's 'Get up there, Daisy!' "
Oh dear!
We have a lovely morning here...I hope is fine for you for your visit to the cemetery?
I am away out shortly for my walk........

Good morning, Elle!
That's it! A trident!
I could not remember what was it called.
I liked "Heads, or, the man with the fork?!"
All good stuff!
Fine day here.
I have to go and get flowers etc for cemetery and then the day is for myself!

Hi, Rusty!
My day has just been turned upside down...........
I was expecting a lazy morning, and then a friend arriving here in time for lunch.
Instead of which, I have just received a phone call from my friend, asking me instead to met her in Bromley in an hour's time in order to accompany her to the optician's and then go shopping!
Lunch, I gather, is to follow......
So I am away now to change out of dog walking gear and get the bus!
Suddenly, all is "rush"!
I hope your visit to the cemetery went well?
Catch you later!

Good afternoon, Elle!
I was the only person at the cemetery!
But it was a lovely morning there, and I trimmed and tidied, so that was fine!
Taking it easy now.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am home again now.
The fine day deteriorated and we have had some rain!
Fortunately I did not get wet, as I was eating lunch at the time of the downpour!
We went to a Chinese restaurant for our meal - the food was delicious!
Interestingly - and unbeknown to me beforehand - there was a Continental Market set up along Bromley High Street ( which is pedestrianised at all times).
This had stalls from apparently eleven different traders, including France, Germany , Italy, Greece and Thailand.
There was a fascinating display of different goods from food to clothing to furniture.......to large carved elephants!
The market will be there until this coming Sunday!
Now to take a look at the crosswords .... I shall start with the QC....... the easier one first!

Masterchef: I don't believe it! Alison was clearly the best of the last four!

Hello, Elle!
There seems to be rain about, but not here, so far.
Your Bromley market sounds like it would be worth a visit?
I did my crossword earlier today.
13a is to do with your favourite sport, cricket!
Had my son here earlier.
We watched a bit of the golf from Florida.
Fine weather there, too!

Hi, Rusty!
It has been raining persistently here for quite a while - at least it is beneficial for our newly purchased plants ( which we have yet to plant/ repot) - a job for tomorrow!
Yes, the Continental Market was well worth a visit in that it was an interesting display of variable goods - but hardly at realistic prices!
I think it was more suitable for the tourist trade (but in Bromley, though?) than for the average shopper!
I looked..... and admired....... but didn't buy!
I managed to do 13a, but only because of the crossers and the fact that I could see the two requisite parts of the body!
But I do not know what "leg slip" means?
It is good that you and your son enjoyed the golf!

Hello, Chris!
Sorry to hear you are displeased with the outcome of "Masterchef"!
But as I have never seen the programme and know nothing whatsover about it, other than commiserating with you for your disappointment in the results, I cannot really help with any advice or criticism!
I know what a keen cook you are.......this has obviously hit home!
