The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer and details of any you already have. Any special instructions or additional information, common in Listener puzzles, should be included.
HINTS only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help with the theme may also be sought and given here. It is intended that the help is fairly gentle in nature, just a nudge or a pointer in the right direction. It certainly shouldn't be anything that would spoil the puzzle for others. Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much are likely to be removed.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

MY enjoyment of this excellent puzzle contrasts with my displeasure at the cancellation of DrXX

Congratulations, Woodlouse. I have the first grid completed and the message discovered, but its meaning remains unclear. Is the second grid's layout identical to the first? Off to the pub for inspiration.

The listener crossword has been part of my weekend for a ridiculous number of years now, but I have never been moved to express an opinion up until now. Maybe it’s the rather splendid Rioja I have been drinking tonight, but no, I think it is the beauty of this construction that has prompted me to register on this site so that I can express my admiration. Thank you Twin!

Amazing what a couple of pints will do for the little grey cells. And an amazing construction. Hats off to Twin!

My first thought while working on the initial grid was that many of the clue surfaces were very clunky. When all was revealed, like the others here, I was in awe. How was this even possible?

Woodlouse, you may not have seen Norah's post that she invited drxx back to the forum but he has (for now) declined the invitation.

Twin is undoubtedly the master of current setters. I'm about 80% of the way through the gridfill, but have just figured out the second grid, and, as usual with Twin, I am somewhat blown away.

If anyone hasn't seen the guardian genius 257 by the same setter, it's worth checking out.
