Thank you for clearing up my confusion brendan and Will37. I hadn't considered person at 30D since it's a word in Chambers, but yes that makes sense. I also got stuck on a different application for Area in 13A. Didn't expect an abbreviation to be clued in the way that it is in 17D, but I can see how it all works now.

Got everything except the circle. I presume I have the correct character from the birthdate, and the surname features a letter which doesn’t appear anywhere in my grid, so I presume the forename. Are the letters evenly spaced. Could really do without another long grid-stare. Been at it an hour already.
