[I see that fifteensquared are to start a Listener blog starting with this puzzle which will be blogged on 3rd Jan. Not sure what has triggered that, but there it is.]

All done now - the SW corner had me stumped for longer than the other 75% of the grid.

Definitely a gentle puzzle but nevertheless some highly skilled setting. There was remarkably little ambiguity about the extra letters considering that every clue had one. I enjoyed it. Thank you, Hypnos.

I'm getting very frustrated with this. I raced to about 90% gridfill in an hour or so but have spent more than 4 hours staring at the remaining clues. Not looking for specific help but my answer for 32d doesn't appear in Chambers nor any other major dictionary. It would do if I changed the last letter but that would make 38a wrong. Could anyone please confirm or otherwise? Thanks

32d is certainly in Chambers, so what you have must be wrong

32d - does appear in Chambers - if it's any help the definition is "nob's top" and the final letter comes from "acting".

Thanks, Brendan. I had the last word as the definition and there is a word in Chambers that fits albeit with the last letter different.

Apologies Simon, the definition is NOT "nob's top", so ignore that part of my post.

If you have the correct crossing letters, there are only two alternatives for the third one in Chambers
