Not understanding the wordplay for 11a. Believe I have the misprint, but don’t understand the correction.

I suppose an alternate spelling of another word, both included in Chambers but neither with the relevant definition? Tricky! Good puzzle, though.

11a: I do not believe the corrected word is in Chambers - at least it is not in the old CD-ROM nor the IOS app. But Google confirms it's a language spoken in the place

Actually it IS in Chambers - not as a headword but as one of the languages associated with different, nearby place!

Thanks, buzzb. I found a different replacement for a different occurrence of the same letter that appeared to be specific to …………... Shouldn’t matter either way, fortunately.

Nearly filled the grid: cannot parse 22 across 32 across and 2 down, despite being fairly certain as to the answers. Hints welcome.

Opto, 22a. parses as 'notice (4)' with the first letter replaced by 'chute (3)'

32a is a double def clue - 1) a light shield 2) Scots dialect for the misprinted final word.
2d - 3 letter (Oriental) drama followed by 'to begin' archaic/poetic (3 letters).

...2d misprint in 2nd word.
