Struggling to complete the end game. I have 7 clues that enter the block that I have identified - but the corrections to the misprints from those doesn't make any sense to me. Am I on the right lines?

I'm where you are, gitto. I have spotted two of the thematic words involved in the next step though.

I think the first of the seven corrections is completely redundant

woodlouse - without the first correction you are likely to be imprecise in how you do the replacements, though I am not sure you would be marked wrong.

I have two of the "three thematic words", totalling 13 letters but can't for the life of me find the third one - presumably 5 letters unless it crosses. (I have the one which ought to have an accent.) A hint would be welcome if I'm not to go on grid-staring until the wee small hours.

It shouldn’t need to be a grid stare. Approach it another way. As long as you can identify the 15 letter message to explain the final embellishment, by inference none of the answers generated by those clues can enter the three thematic words. This points you to where they must be located.
