No, I didnt know about it, but I avoid anything to do with Jane Austen anyway.

Funnily enough, a Cassie served me at Kentucky Fried Chicken last night.

Jigjag, you've made me very. very happy - I always enjoy hearing of others who avoid anything to do with Jane Austen!

Nice to hear from you - yes I find it very hard going - we had to study P & P at school and I have loathed it since. I was once presented with free tickets for an outdoor performance in a country house. It was done brilliantly with just 3 actors and 2 actresses. The girls did an act during the interval, and I was surprised that it was rather crude, and out of kilter with the setting.

She was young and very pleasant, so a different Cassie!

No, it was a bit too chilly for that. It was stand-up comedy, but I am afraid that women are no good at it.

Jigjag, your JA event sounded awful. I thought you might like this, the opening few lines of a TV review, from this week's Spectator.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that lazy journalists begin every piece about Jane Austen with the words 'It is a truth universally acknowledged...' "
