I've finished this without having any idea about the 2 special clues and how they relate to the theme. Still, it looks quite pretty.

They aren’t essential for solving. But they are both short, differ by just one letter, and thematically are acronyms, though not when added to the grid answers

I have the diagram, but I'm lacking a comprehensive set of clashes, mainly because so may of my entries are un-parsed.

I'd like some ideas, please, to explain my entries for 19ac, 21ac, 35ac, 1d and 33d

Many thanks

Look at the first word in 35a for the misprint - wordplay is a synonym for 'approach' (hyph) and change a letter.

1d Look at the last word for the misprint (definition).

33 - the answer is a common word with an obscure meaning, the 3 letter synonym is clued obscurely but it could be a maggot, fly, computer prog etc.

The others you mention won't help you, dylan

I’ve finished and I think I have all the clashes and a complete grid, as well as the name, but I don’t know which two clues are thematic.

38ac was mind blowing—I had the answer early on but only got the wordplay after completing the rest of the puzzle when it came to me suddenly.

There are a few clues I don’t fully understand—no idea if they have any relevance to the thematic element, probably not.

Can anyone give me any nudging on 19ac (don’t understand definition), 23ac (definition), and 1dn (wordplay)?

For 19a add a 3 letter thematic acronym to the answer and think of who might accompany you on a round.

drxx - I do not think you should be revealing that any clue is one of the 2 thematic ones or that there is an acronym that is thematic

chrisremo:

23a: Def is 1st 3 words - see the 3rd definition in Chambers
1dn: 4-letter word for (a) stop with an o replaced by a Scottish (Moravian!!) word for search

Why buzzb? We already know that it has no practical value as far as solving the puzzle goes. Nor will it give the theme away (what do you think a search for it could possibly reveal that is any more helpful than what we get from the preamble/clashes/clues?).
It's just become a minor irritation for people who have aleady solved the 'puzzle'.
