This thread is aimed at those needing a little extra help.If you're struggling (really struggling!) with a Listener clue, please post your clue here.
Help with the theme may also feature here. This doesn't mean detailing exactly what's to be done, just more generous hints and nudges than can be found on the other thread.
Unsolicited answers and details of the theme will be removed.
NB If you don't want to see any answers at all, please don't look in on this thread!

This looks quite tough, I have solved 6 clues after a few hours.
So, I'm happy to open the 'answers' thread by asking for a few tips to easier clues- if you have spotted any. The only ones of any length I have are 1a and 39a.

6, 10, 22 (an old favourite), 27 28 and 29 are all reasonably straightforward.

Three small ones are bugging me:
8a - no idea about this, although I think a letter moves
26ac - there only seems one possible letter move, but I can't then get it
31d - what does Charlotte indicate?
Thanks in anticipation

Hi Dylan,

31d - I think Charlotte is a where rather than who

Dylan,
8a. A letter from the last word moves to the first.
'passing' means 'eliminating'

dylan, re 26a .. I expect you’re correct re the letter to move .. the resultant double definitions are slightly obscure, the answer being listed under both definitions in Chambers, but neither definition being listed under the answer in Bradford’s, if that makes sense!
