I'm making progress.
Can I go back to 9a. The implication was that it is a simple double def, plum/plumb, with stone extra?
Is that right!

That’s how I have it, but I am nowhere near finished, so it might not be right.

That's my thinking too, you need the omitted word...

Can anyone give me a hint on sixth down clue?

I have the grid more or less full near the top and I think I know where it goes, but this seems to contradict the gridfill which I have and it is proving most frustrating, particularly as the down clues are in the standard order, so there is not a lot of leeway.

Confirmation or correction please: Is the Scottish comedian in the fifth down clue often associated with sausages? That’s all I could find online that worked.

Foinaven, is it the characters clue? If so, think Greek.

Originally I thought it was Greek, fitting in at the top of the right hand colomn. As the second and third letters are determined, there are only two options (neither of which I understand), but presumably this is now a clue with an extra word.

Unfortunately that does not solve the problem I have in the third cell of the fourth row, but I will need to look at this tomorrow when my mind is a bit clearer.
