Thanks now my 1 down clashes with 2. I have an O from 1 down and possibly HO from 2

I’m with you jeg regarding 1D clashing with 2A. Hopefully someone will enlighten us soon.

It depends on how you position the diagonal bars.

You seem to be assuming that the first down clue is 1 down. That may or may not be true

...or an 'o' (perhaps you've started 1 down in the wrong column?).

Now realised that the first down clue answer starts at the second cell not the first one. This is tough!

Granama 1. 😂 exactly the position we were in yesterday evening. Having decided not to do the garden, we spent the afternoon reverse engineering the required letters from each row and that helped the grid fill. Persevere, it’s an absolute gem.
