With respect to the final step, is the cell/letter “suitably placed”? If it’s where I’m thinking it should be, I thought some interpretations would have it be a prohibitively warmer location.

This is another puzzle which demands a lot of cold solving and, despite some progress, I’m not surprised to find myself struggling. Turast’s hint at 30 gave me the incentive to continue - so thank you.

As a result I’ve solved one symbol and this gives rise to an obvious question: are there 12 symmetrically placed?

The answer is an anagram of a word in the clue around a single letter for "castle" (think chess) - definition is "go round"
