Amen to that, many thanks Loge. Once I put the 6 and 8 in as suggested, it all started to make sense

A good place to start the grid fill is to realize that the unchecked cells must also have 90 degree symmetry and cannot contain clashes!

Eventually completed this but one or two parses have me foxed. I'll wait a while and see if anyone else raises them. It was difficult to get started but once the lower right clash appeared things got moving.

Hi cockie. How did you know they were a 5 and a 7 rather than longer answers with clashes?

I'm really confused with this clashing thing and 90 degree symmetry thing. So are several letters from one word and several from another all in one cell? Or is that totally wrong. I might give up if I can't even understand what to do!!

lewap - this one had me flummoxed for a long time even after I had solved it.

You are looking for the name of a kind of pasta, middle letter ("core") removed, inside a Shakespearean word for "place", last three words of the clue are the definition.

Abicoop, you've got it. The letters in the cell are anagrammed, to give a word which can be represented by a symbol.

All completed now, except for the final instruction. Does this mean that each of us enters a letter in our own appropriate square?
