I agree with Jack - I think we're looking at 90 degree rotational symmetry in that there are clashes in identical places after every quarter-turn. Symmetry is not my strong point though, I have to admit.

A reversal of that changes women's quarters to in a row.

Thanks. I had my third and fourth letters the wrong way round, satisfying the theme but giving me a different adverb.

Understood. It was my last one in, and I faced the same dilemma before I found the synonym for “net”
