You take the author 2,4. Remove T and add D.

1d is a short form of a musical term- with an ignored letter in it.

6d is how an Eastender might say a word meaning to warm up. Def is a word for food.

Three more:

29a, 35a and 31d.

i "think" 29a is BAR ba = barium (element) R missing ???
35a 3 parts to it ...1st part 4 letters from 5 letter word for speedy + 2letters from 3 letter word for embrace + AN (and missing its last)

31d one of the 16 goes in a group with 5d and 7a and 40d

5 letter word for absolutely nothing ... remove the L ...put in U then i think R is missing

My 40d must be wrong. I have Bishop (Rev) in reverse over N.
Cannot find Vern. It must be Take Bishop over N giving three letters and R missing?

If 1d has a missing letter, I cannot figure it out.
I have 13 missing letters.
I have 4 in across and 9 in down clues.

I can't get a fourth group. I have the creatures, the places, and the anags - and I know 21d is in the fourth. Any help please?
