Samovar. The instruction to get the two word phrase is 14 characters as is the title in 1ac. If you follow the instruction you have to find a new 2 word phrase from 10 letters in a different title.

Thank you very much, djawhufc. What I don't understand is how an anagram of 14 letters, i.e. the full title as orson says, turns into 10 letters. And the letters for what is at King's Cross aren't in the title I have, as an "n" is missing ! I'm sure I'm looking at this in completely the wrong way. I do aplogise.

Oh djawhufc, What a relief ! Thank you SO much. How could I have been so stupid ! I must, must, must remember to keep in mind the Title of the Puzzle. This has happened to me before. And being a beginner is no excuse. I do appreciate your kindness, now perhaps I can finish this crossword.
Many,many thanks.

Phew. As I said a few weeks ago I am new to The Listener, with its double entries, deletions and so on. However with help from this site I have finished it. The double entries in 48 held me up for some time, as did a number of parsings. Last in was 9, which I had convinced myself was Rhine, and of course turned out to be one of the most straightforward clues.
I am lost in admiration for Elgin, weaving so much into one crossword.
From various comments made it looks like I could have picked an easier time to join you all!

Welcome Pattie and others. I think the article in the Times last Saturday must have given this site some publicity!
Welcome to anyone else joining us for the first time.

Thank you, Smithsax. In future,I must remember the title of the Puzzle, as opposed to the theme. It would save a lot of time !

Hi Pattie - Indeed a lot of differnt elements involved in this puzzle. You can be sure that occasionally some with easier fills will appear where the final grid construction is to be admired rather than the difficulty of solving.
