I've had a peep at 26 and I'd have gone for 'gutter press'

Seamus, you are very clever. We have solved 18, 22, 26 and 29 but still working on no. 8 with your clue.

Got No. 8 which just leaves No.17 on page one. That leaves 7 more to solve on pp 2&3 but will keep going for a few days before I ask for more help.

Hi Everyone, I have a problem with question 44. Dance with nothing on beside the continuous fire - but this gives protection. 7.7.
I have the two words that make up the answer, but cannot decide which word comes first. Can any one confirm if the first word ends in 'n' or 'e'
please ?

I apologise ...... the first word DOES end in 'e'. I had a senior moment there!

Hi haeremai18, lovely to hear from you again - more important though - how are you after your fall, which sounded very serious,.
Re myself , the radiographer gave a good report but the consultant wanted to take a biopsy and I still awaiting that result. Assuming the 'no news is good news'!
I am still unsure of the answer to 44 though. Both words begin with the same letter but one ends with n and the other with e. Chambers dictionary is not much use as it quotes these two words in both ways round !
I think the first word ends with n, but the friend I work with over this quiz thinks it is the other way about.
What are the thoughts of everyone please?
