I have indeed been thinking of a pub related word with a double letter and removing one letter to give a room but can't neatly square it with the very high standard of clues in this quiz.

The word empty usually implies the letter o so think of hairdressers then the room in a pub

That's what I've had in mind but I'm not remotely happy about it.

Maybe people are trying to give duff clues?

The answer I have begins with 'C' and ends with 'R', I can't see where hairdressers come in at all if my answer is correct .It is a room where the empties are put.
