I still lean towards my answer for ' bar empty room' . Bar apparently can be an abbrev for .....
bar.
1. barometer.
2. barrel.
3. barrister.

I'm still tearing out my hair on numbers 16 and 52. I hope to solve them before I go bald.

Brain still not working very well since falling down stairs 8 weeks ago but didn't bump my head so no excuse! Anyway re the quiz I still have 20 clues to solve. Can I please have some help with the following to start with:
1. Sail with one bowling around centre of lake (9)
5. Force apple into pan (8,6)
8. One won't strike poet, keeping weapon here (8)
17. Being only partly dressed, pretty girl's liable to become
Flustered (10)
18. Scottish location sees fashionable writer joining
ship .... (9)
22. The player is in Berlin after graduates without
delay (10) SOMEONE EARLIER SAID STARTED WITH 'B' and
ENDS WITH 'T'
24. Got ninth sorted out - then I will see the romantic
comedy (7,4)
26. By the way, insist upon sensationalistic reporting (6,5)
29. Huge insect enthralling a pair of maidens (7)
