Hi, Rusty!
I have now met Levi Zendt and Elly.
I like them!
I am halfway through the chapter entitled "The Wagon and the Elephant" - and about a third of the way through the book!
It is hard to put it down at this stage as I am so interested in finding out what happens to them.
I haven't even watched the Triathlon which I recorded earlier!
Are you tracking your son's flight?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Levi and Elly are fine folk.
What about all the food the Zendt family ate?
I was amazed!
Levi was my favourite character.
His brother Mahlon was a piece of work, though!
I have my son's flight set up on FlightAware.
An hour and a bit yet, though.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the members of the Zendt family certainly had good appetites - and large stomachs?
I watched a documentary a few years ago about the Amish - it was very well done and very interesting..
I think the Mennonites - to which Levi and Elly are affiliated - are a similar people?
I do not know how the two religions differ?
Are they actually classified as "religions" or are they more a culture or a lifestyle?
I'm not sure?
Do you mean an hour and a bit before the plane even leaves Orlando?
But the flight takes about eight hours, I think you said?
That means they won't be arriving until about 6 am?
How will you track that?
Won't you be in bed?

Hello, Elle!
The Amish and the Mennonites are very similar, but different.
Mennonites seem to integrate with the population more than Amish.
Levy Zendt was a Mennonite, not sure about Elly.
The website does the tracking "live" all the way.
Just a case of refreshing the screen and I can see where are they, what height, speed, estimated arrival etc.
I shall wait until they clear Florida, and the Carolinas, then leave it, until morning, probably.

Hi, Rusty!
I have been talking to my cousin!
She rang at nine o'clock - and we always chat for an hour!
We could go on for longer........but we do manage to restrict ourselves!
No, now that I come to think about it, Elly's religion has not - so far at least - come into question.
The "live" system of tracking sounds good....... you can see that your son and daughter -in-law are travelling safely just before you go to bed, and if you wake up later during the night, you can then have a quick decko and reassure yourself that all is well!
And they should have arrived by the time you get up tomorrow!
Now, time for a coffee and a shortie biscuit................

Good morning, Elle,
Yes, the travellers are home.
I will get a brief visit at some point today.
My deckie has finished painting and is off to take his good lady shopping as it is her birthday!
Turning into a fine morning here!

Good morning, Rusty!
That's good the travellers are home safely!
How far had they got before you went to bed?
You will be looking forward to seeing them!
Your decorator works early hours if he has finished already!
We tend to count ourselves lucky down here, if a workman turns up at all!
Although I have to give due credit to the gas fitter ( cum unexpected handy man!) who certainly saved the day with my new cooker!
He was a gem!
Nice day here, warming up nicely.......
Just having a black coffee and taking a look at the Times QC......

Good afternoon, Elle!
I "stayed" with the travellers until North Carolina.
They flew up the US Atlantic seaboard, then across the Atlantic.
Landed in Glasgow just after 5 this morning.
The "deckie" was meant to come around 12, but he phoned a good bit earlier to see if he could come then as he had been let down at his morning job.
Plasterer was meant to do walls on Saturday but was a no-show!
The job is a very old house in Fife and there are several tradesmen involved in it, so the "spreader" will not be at all popular, with the trades he has held up!
Or the new owners!
My deckie is out taking his good lady shopping as it is her birthday today, and then taking her for tea.
Your gas fitter turned out to be a gem.
Hang on to the good guys!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Now......"Centennial".......it has been fascinating how the individual storylines and families gradually have been overlapping.
But I didn't see coming the meeting of Levi and Elly with Alexander McKeag and Clay Basket in the fort!!
That really did surprise me!
And then to discover Captain Mercy was married to Pasquinel's daughter.....and the reappearance of Jake on the scene....
The interweaving of all these lives and the history behind it all is riveting.
And then for Levi and Elly to turn back.........
Levi and Alexander McKeag have just become partners!
I need to take the dog out for a walk ...how can I put down my book?
Poor dog...I had better take her!
Back in a short while........

Hello, Elle!
You have the advantage on me.
It is quite some time since I read the book.
Some of it is slightly hazy!
I did not like Jake Pasquinel!
A disgrace to his mother!
Yes, Levi and McKeag got on well.
Two good men.
I am pleased you appear to be enjoying it!
