Hi, Rusty!
Were they the correct answers - did you check them out for me?
It passed through my mind that it might be Marilyn Monroe, but I had no idea who her companion was.
I don't think I've ever seen a photo of Arthur Miller? although I've read "Death of a Saleman" (about Willy Loman)
No, I cannot answer Malone's clue. No idea at all! I've even wondered if perhaps 'islands ' is not the definition?
I had wondered about going out for a short stroll - but the weather has changed and now looks like rain, so I've decided to stay indoors ( so unlike me! you can tell how rough I am feeling!)
My husband has ventured forth to buy us some "iron rations"...bread and milk for instance.......
At least I have "The Voice" and "Casualty" to watch tonight.

Hi elle
You've just reminded me of a review of a performance of "Death of a salesman", when the reviewer commended "the pathertic smallness of Dustin Hoffman's Willy".

Rusty and Elle...
Re I D - the Londonism ISN'T (for a change) at the very beginning of the answer. It's in the second part/second syllable of the word. 'Islands' is the definition.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, you are correct in your quiz answers.
Yes, that was Miller and Monroe.
They married after she divorced Joe Di Maggio.
Joe loved her until the day he died and always put roses on her grave. She should never have left him.
He tried to protect her from the Kennedys.
It was Joe who organised her funeral and chose the cemetery.
A good man.
Now, you, and Malone, if he looks in, can maybe help me with last clue in Times.
18 d, Siberian diamonds needs cutting (3-4)
I have "ice cold" for Siberian.
Two sets of diamonds "ice" and "d".
Which leaves me with " col" for needs?
I am guessing it could be an acronym for "cost of living".
Or am I up the Crow Road completely?

Ice and d are diamonds
Col is a "cutting" (pass) between two mountains e.g. ..

Rusty, col for 'cost of living' doesn't appear anywhere. I think 'cold' just means 'cutting' (and vice versa). Diamonds is Ice, but it/they 'need' Cold' to become Ice-Cold, Siberian.

Thank you, Pigale, Eirlys, and Malone!
It seems to me to be not much of a clue?
I did think of col as a pass (being a Tour de France fan!) but I am not sure at all about this one!

Yes, Malone, I think you have it.
I was over complicating the matter.
Time for a coffee!
