Hi, Rusty!
That is disappointing about the V & A.......it sounded so promising, when I initially read all about it.
Going to town does sound your best option , though, if you want a choice of shoe shops?
Personally, I hate buying shoes! I have such peculiar feet!
How does a "Pay -to -View" channel work?
I cannot understand how one can be "charged" for an individual viewing?
I definitely don't seem to be moving with the times!

Hello, Elle!
The V&A is very successful according to press reports, but probably not for young folks.
I had a good idea my young ones would not be interested in museums.
But they would be very enthusiastic about the ice cream they had afterwards!
With 'Sky Spooky' you pay extra for it, over and above the normal Sky TV package subscription.
I am looking for ways to be paying less, not more!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, you mean that you pay extra in advance for having that Channel?
I had always assumed that "Pay- to -View" meant pay "on the spot" for a particular programme.........
Hence my confusion as to how to do that!
You can tell all our appliances are either very basic or archaic!
I have just been speaking to my daughter...and to YB!
His elder brother was asleep in bed.......but the little one wanted to talk to Grandma!
I have just started "On Chesil Beach" by Ian McEwan.
I bought it some time ago, and temporarily mislaid it......
I've also found my biography of John Thaw, which I have yet to read!

Oh dear, elle. "On chesil beach" is high on my list of "books I wish I hadn't read"! So depressing....

Deja vu, Chris!
We have been down this route before!
Remember "Engleby" and your dire warnings?
I shall get back to you later....!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, the channel costs even more money.
Maybe a "subscription channel" would be a better term.
It costs more money for the sports channels and movie channels, and there are more channels that may cost extra, too.
A lot of the free channels are good (for me, anyway).
I often watch Bloomberg, and Al Jazeera News channel is good.
And I get BBC Norn Iron channels to see what's going on across the water.
I do not know your book.
I've heard of Ian McEwan, but not sure what he wrote.

Hi, Rusty!
I am not happy about having to pay for the TV licence in the future, let alone paying for any additional channels!
Ian McEwan wrote quite a number of books, although I am hard put to describe the genre.
I have only previously read two......
"Solar" and "Atonement".....
The latter was made into a film ..... my daughter and I went to see it a number of years ago.
I seem to recall differences from the book...but when are there not?
That is one of my main grouses...the lack of correlation between book and film!
I have heard from VetUK and DPD.......my replacement package is coming tomorrow!
That was a quick response!

That's odd, elle, as I am in the middle of McEwan's "Saturday". So far am liking it. My favourite is "Enduring Love" as I have said before. I think you would enjoy "The Children Act", very thought provoking. It's about a judge having to make those dreadful decisions about treating (medically), or not, a child.
My son and his wife have been looking at secondary schools for my grandson. Does time not fly?

Hello, Elle!
I got Sky TV many years ago because my aerial signal was poor.
It was a huge improvement, so I kept it.
I am looking forward to EuroSport on Saturday.
The Alpine skiing World Cup starts on the Rettenbach Glacier in Austria!
I do not know your books.
One of the best book/films to stick with the plot was "Jaws" by Peter Benchley.
It was about a huge shark that was eating people.
It was based on true incidents that took place on the coast of New Jersey in 1916.
The book and film were good.
You will be pleased to get your pet food!

Good morning, Rusty!
I think rain has set in for the day.
A very muddy walk..... and a very dirty dog!
Yes. I have read "Jaws", and also seen the film.
I am hazy about the details now, though, as it was such a long time ago.
One of the best book and film correlations , for me, was "To Kill A Mocking Bird".
And both were great!
Gregory Peck made a wonderful "Atticus".
Yes, a commendably prompt response about my pet food.....
I shall have to leave my husband in charge of receiving it from the courier, though, as I am going out shortly to meet a friend.
I had a late text yesterday evening, arranging this.
It was a nice surprise!
She is unexpectedly coming up to London today and wants to meet up.
We have not seen each other for some time, so it will be good to catch up on all the news first hand.
So I shall brave the rain.......and will be home again about teatime!

Hello, Ros!
How strange that we should both opt for reading Ian McEwan at the same time!
I have heard of "The Children Act", but not yet read it.
Have you read....and/or seen.... "Atonement"?
Yes , time passes very quickly.......the more so, it feels, the older we get!
How soon do the applications for secondary school have to be in, for your grandson?
