Hi, Rusty!
Well done, Topol!
"Quanked" can join "ramfeezled" in my book!
I have finally got the crossword printed...but haven't yet had chance to look at it.
I shall do so when I come back.....
I am just going to take the dog to be bathed and trimmed.
At least she likes the groomer, even if she doesn't like the grooming!

Hello, Elle!
Turned rainy here.
Yes, the "Fiddler" replaced a batten in the roof and all seems well now.
"Quanked" is another fine word!
Your wee book will be getting full!
I have had a canny afternoon.
Just keeping an eye on the Dow Jones Index going up and down.
Exciting stuff!

Good evening, Rusty!
It is still sunny here, and has warmed up considerably .....quite a change from the chill of the early morning.
I have been in and out all day!
I had to take the dog to the Groomers, do some shopping, pick up the dog again, take her out.......and in between I kept checking into base at home.
Now I need to organise dinner......
I am quanked!

Good evening, Elle!
It has been showery here, and a chill in the air!
I have been home most of the day.
A fine word is "quanked"!
But, I know what you mean.
All the running about takes it out of you.
I had my tea earlier.

Hi, Rusty!
I had haddock with cheese sauce for dinner...it was delicious!
We have the plumbers here tomorrow to refit the shower.
I think they are expecting the job to take about three days.
I shall be kept busy making cups of tea!
I wasn't joking, though, about being tired...I really do feel exhausted.
I am going to take it easy now...and read my book!

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here.
Hope the plumbers get on OK!
Tip- stay out of their way and let them get on with it!
I have a bit of driving to do later.
I have done my puzzle online.
Finished it, but the parse for 11a eludes me, but I've all day to fathom it!

Good morning, Rusty!
A very wet day here!
I had a poggy dog by the time I returned from my walk.
Where do you have to drive?
Are you by any chance chauffeuring granddaughters?!
Goodness me, you finished your crossword extremely early!
I have only just printed out mine.
I shall take look at 11a.....
No sign of the plumbers as yet!

Hello, Elle!
It is cloudy here but everyone says it is chillier.
Me too!
I drove out to Tullybaccart.
Bet you've never heard of it!
I have a pal who lives there.
Took him out some salmon flies.
No granddaughters involved today!
11a, I'm confident I have the right answer but the parse is still bugging me!
I think this setter knows something that I don't!
Hope the plumbers and you hit it off!

Hi, Rusty!
No, you are quite right...I have never heard of Tullybaccart!
Is it far from you?
The plumber and his assistant have just arrived.......they were supposed to be here at 9.30am!
But the plumber, yet another Chris - we know a surprising number of them! - is not new to us.
He has previously done several jobs for us.... he is a very nice guy, a very good worker, and does an excellent job.......but his time keeping is terrible!
We have him back, though, because in every other way he has proved be reliable.
I have finished my crossword.....
Re 11a: I have "isle" = "may be the top of volcano" (def)
Woman briefly recalled - "Elsi(e)" - reversed.
I am assuming that it is simply thought that an island may be the top of a volcano?
I cannot parse 8d though.....
A paper turns up containing a device that's similar (9)
I have "analogous" = similar (def), but cannot see the rest of the parsing?

Hello, Elle!
Tullybaccart is about 8 miles from me.
There are great views of the North from there.
The Grampian Mountains etc.
That's fine your plumber has turned up.
11a. I know there are volcanos on the Isle of Skye, but other than that I am stumped.
Your guess may be right, but I suspect there is something else to it.
8d is, a paper is "a Sun", a device is "a logo".
How's that?
