Hi, Rusty!
I found this
https://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/ASK/hawaiian_hotspot2.html
I think our bathroom project is going to be more of a job than expected.
The plumbers are looking a trifle aghast .....
Chris has gone out to buy tiles as he says the entire area will need replastering and then re-tiling......
Doors keep opening all around......
My husband is inspecting the chaos.....
I am closeted in the lounge with the cat......and a reluctant dog, who wishes to go guard the bathroom!
Still pouring with rain...and yes, becoming very chilly!

Hello, Elle!
Did the plumbers not know the size of the job before they started?
If it needs replastering the wall will have to dry out etc.
Hope it goes well!
I still don't like 11a!
Too vague for a simple lad like me!
Dry here but a tad chilly!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Well, Chris came to inspect the bathroom and gave us an estimate.....but I think he was originally intending to leave the existing tiles in situ.
Instead, he now deems it better to take them all down , re-plaster and then re-tile.
The intention is to have a new (larger) shower cubicle fitted.
I am confident that they will do a good job...it just may take somewhat longer than thought.
But there is no particular hurry.... it is only our guest bathroom, so we are not being especially inconvenienced.
I cannot see any viable alternative for 11a?

Hello, Elle!
I am sure your plumber lads will get there eventually!
"Esme" is a woman's name and fits 11a.
I think it is "isle" though.
It is just too vague for me.
I'm sure others can see the parse, but it is not there for me!
I am going to have my tea, now.
A tin of salmon and tatties!

Hi, Rusty!
It turns out that the plumbers are father and son!
Both very pleasant and friendly, and efficient.
They have taken out the old shower cubicle, ripped the existing tiles from the walls, and re-plastered the necessary walls today.
And they will be back on Friday....when, hopefully, the plaster will have dried by then.
They plan to work Friday and Saturday.
I think "isle" is okay...and, since reading the link that I sent you, I am reasonably satisfied with the explanation.
I'm sorry, I forgot earlier to thank you for the parse for 8d.....
Salmon and tatties sounds good!

I know you're sorted, elle, but a few days ago I wrote to Dorset Tourist Board to ask about cats. The lady there contacted 70 businesses and only one said yes, and they have a barn sleeping 10!!
As you know, I don't like any domestic pets but if people have dogs in their properties, why not cats? You can always charge a deposit and clean up fee. I should imagine some children do more damage.
I went to the Pompeii exhibition today- the body of a woman cast in wax is seriously disturbing but also very interesting

Good evening, Elle!
Nice evening here now!
That seems a bit quick for plaster to be drying out, surely?
I am sure the lads know what they are at, though.
I am disappointed with "isle", but not to worry, there will be another puzzle along tomorrow!
I'll perchance have a look on YouTube to see what Simon or Mark made of it.
That's if they tackled it today.
They often do the Quick one, or Su Doku.

Hi, Rusty!
It is finally fine here, too, but until now it has been an abysmally wet day throughout.
I think tomorrow is set fair, but there will be more rain again on Friday.
Goodness, I have no idea about plaster drying out?
It is not a large area? and they are not returning to check on it , until mid morning on Friday?
Presumably, if they do not consider then that it is ready to tile, then they will wait......
They are an established local family company of some years standing, so hopefully know what they are about.
I cannot remember how long our regular builder friends left the dining room ceiling repairs before painting?
Did you check to see if Simon or Mark "solved" today's puzzle?

Hello, Ros!
Yes, I can well believe those statistics....
It would appear that Letting Agencies have a blanket "No cats" policy, but I have nearly always found that if I can contact the owner directly, he /she will agree to allow us to take the cat(s).
This is what fortunately happened in this instance .....
The woman owner is quite happy for us to take both the dog and the cat.
The difficulty usually is establishing a direct contact with the owner.
I was lucky this time!
Incidentally. I would defy anyone to find as much as a single cat or dog hair by the time we have cleaned up before we leave!

Hello, Elle!
Often, fresh plastering is left for weeks to dry out properly before decoration.
But, I do not know exactly what your plumbers are doing?
No plasterer?
I am sure they know what they are at, though.
Nothing that I could see on YouTube about today's puzzle, Elle!

Hi, Rusty!
The company is an old established family firm of over twenty years, specialised in installing bathrooms, as well as doing smaller plumbing jobs.
I am sure we are in good hands.....
We have been pleased by the standard of previous jobs done for us.
My younger daughter and I have arranged for us all to go out for Sunday lunch to celebrate their Wedding Anniversary!
That will be nice!
And tomorrow, now that the plumbers are not going to be here.... I am having lunch with an old friend!
Living it up!!!
