Elle, as far as I can see there are books of both types - hardback and paperback, both for the 16th Edition (mine) and the 18th edition (Rusty's)

One thing though, the hardback are much much more expensive than the paperback

ie in the regions of 24.00 euros for hardback
and around 1.50/2.00 for paperback

2nd hand in both cases. I did not look at the advertising from the vendors, where they mention what state it is.

Ladies, it looks like an error on Amazon's part, I would say.
My copy is identical with the one shown, 18th edition.
Mine is paperback.
There is a newer, 19th, edition, but I think it is quite a bit dearer.

I've been doing some research on Amazon...........Rusty 's copy seems to be several years younger than does yours , Pigale - I'm looking if possible for the latest reasonably priced one.
Rusty, if the paperback that you have were available, I would go for that, but however/ whenever I approach it, I 'm getting the millennium version of the paperback on that link........ and this is not only happening today... I checked the book previously when I couldn't find various references that both you and JG had. I had the same result.
I'm considering therefore going for the 18th edition hardback - which would be from World of Books - which would cost me £11.12 altogether incl p&p.
This is still a good price , isn't it? when you consider what it would cost new?
What do you both think?

I would say GO FOR IT Elle, sounds your best bet.

As you say, my Brewers is almost 10 years older than Rusty, though it is still good apart from a few phrases here and then; but for you to replace your old book, you might as well invest in the 18th edition - and by French prices, 11 pounds would be like 15 euros - a lot cheaper than what I quoted you earlier on, particularly since the delivery cost was not included in it !
