Doglet, the ASDA I go to, has far and away the best staff I have ever encountered in any shop.
Excellent service and always a smile and a bit of banter.
That suits me!
It seems to be good value, but I am not a price-conscious man, and never buy wine.
Chapeau to ASDA!

Good morning, Rusty!
It's another beautiful day here! blue sky, sunshine and already a temperature of 18C so early in the morning.
I hope it's nice where you are? Have you been out yet for your paper?
I'm just back from walking the dog, now about to go for my hair trim, and then the family should soon arrive.
I've had a text this morning to say they expect to get here midday/early afternoon.
Hectic day, but will catch you later at some point!
P.S. We don't have any Morrison's shops around here, but we go to one in Pakefield, when we are in Suffolk.

Good Morning everyone!

Thought I would just say Hello!

After a hot and thundery night (I only heard one big bang which obviously woke me up, but there must have been some before) it is now a little grey but still warmish - a little close in fact.

We have lost some 14C overnight though, but are still in the 24C at present - Yesterday was extremely hot, and heat due to start again tomorrow.

This is what is difficult to cope with - such big changes in the space of a few hours, going up and down like a yo-yo. For us here, 26-28C at this time of the year is normal, with peaks of 30-32C. But going as high as 40+ with a drop of 15C or so from one day to the next is no good for the body.

Anyway, this was my daily moan about the weather ! How is everybody ?

I'm not going into town today but an awaiting a big delivery from my super-market - SUPER U - Have you ever heard of this chain? It is big in France now. In larger towns, they are not super but hyper markets.

Pretty dull here, Elle. So's the weather.
Pakefield is new to me!
I just really associate Newmarket with Suffolk.
Is Suff Cockney for South? Or maybe, Saff?
Going to shop soon. I have been experimenting with my chromebook. "Personalising" it!
Are your family motoring to you?
Is this your WhatsApp daughter?
You may tell her we are wise to the folks at Mountain View!
Don't you worry about us on the Chatty Thread, you enjoy your family!

Hello, Pigale!
As long as you are alive to "have" weather that's the main thing!
Dull here.
SUPER U ?
i remember Laurent Fignon, I think it was, riding for a team called Systeme U. Is there a connection?
And what did La Vie Claire do? Supermarket?
I remember Greg LeMond riding for La Vie Claire.
The La Vie Claire jersey was my favourite!
I do not shop in this fashion, but I regularly buy stuff from Amazon an eBay, and I have to say the service is excellent. Must be hitting our High Streets?

Jazzgirl, I have just listened to "Forty"!
Great lyrics! I used to like Billy Cotton!.
Thank you!

Hello Rusty !

You are right of course, to be able to enjoy or dislike the weather is already a blessing - but you know, the French are moaners by birth !

Now System U is a retailers' cooperative comprising some 800 independent hyper or super markets, basically divided into three or four sections;
Hyper U, Super U, Marche U, and the smaller UTILE.

Leclerc is still our main brand nationally but System U is not far behind.

La Vie Claire is only a Healthful Store (Bio products) and has about 250 stores scattered in the country.

Both System U and La Vie Claire have indeed sponsored a team in Le Tour in the past.

I must admit I did not know all that (I had in fact never heard of La Vie Claire because I am not a Bio products fan) and thanks to your inquisitive mind, I Googled the info !

Good day
Rusty: Yes, it was good to hear Billy Cotton again.
In the 1950's he had a house at Sandbanks (Poole) and a Motor Cruiser called "Wakey Wakey". Dad only had a very small outboard motor boat and if he went past Billy's boat, if Billy was on deck, he would bow, jokingly and that made my Dad chuckle.
His son, (Sir )Bill Cotton, used to live nearby us, here in Surrey, until he moved back to Dorset. He was a real gentleman. He used to walk his black Labrador every day and would always stop and talk.
I am now off to tackle the RT crossword with a coffee for inspiration.

Good luck with the RT, jazzy - a few tricky ones, but I don't think they will cause you any problems.

Hello, Pigale!
I used to/still do, wonder what the various teams sponsors did.
I remember the Castorama kit well.
Castorama were a do-it-yourself chain, and their kit resembled bib and brace overalls!
I have vivid memories of a great hero of mine who rode for them. Thierry Marie.
One year in Le Tour he attacked on one of his mad lone breaks. He never came back!
His break was 235 kms and he won by over a minute.
That was the day that Greg LeMond refused to wear the yellow jersey out of respect for Rolf Sorensen who had crashed and abandoned.

Quick-step was another surprise to me.
I think they make flooring products, laminates etc!

I miss Le Tour!
